THE BATTLE FOR THE POSTSEASON TOP SEED
Fresh Prince of Big Spares had jumped out to a resounding 478 pin lead through three weeks of play over a then 5th place Eye Candy team that may have been questioning their decision to change their team name and color after a championship winter campaign. Led by captain Ed Aaron's spectacular 511 series in Week 4, Eye Candy started their comeback and was within striking distance of the Will Smiths after Week 5, trailing by only 158 pins. The pressure must have been too much for Fresh Prince of Big Spares as they bowled 267 pins below their team average in Week 6 allowing Eye Candy to claim the regular season title.
LAST TEAM IN, FIRST TEAM OUT
With only nine teams advancing to compete for the Bud Light trophy, the real regular season battle was for that ninth seed (or maybe the battle was for the tenth seed to be able to compete for the cup). Smokin' Bowls had spent much of the regular season on the outside looking in holding steady as the tenth seed. Entering Week 6, they trailed ninth place Matter of INCHES!!!!! by 194 pins and eighth place 8 Ballz & 2 Splitz by 271 pins.
Who can really say what everyone's true motives were for Week 6? Slide into the top nine to have a chance to topple the bowling giants? Place in the bottom nine to compete for a trophy you can drink from? Just show up so you can chat with that cute guy or girl?
Regardless of motives, the pins are what mattered. 8 Ballz & 2 Splitz bowled 156 pins under their season average while Smokin' Bowls bowled 176 pins over their season average resulting in 8 Ballz & 2 Splitz dropping into tenth place a mere SEVEN PINS below Smokin' Bowls.
