Peninsula Players to Compete in DC this Weekend

On Saturday, July 16th, 25 of the best kickball teams from all over the east coast will compete in the 3rd Annual kickball365 DC Open Tournament. Three of the teams competing are comprised primarily of VA Peninsula players.

Bryan Freed has entered Just For Kicks into the tournament. In addition to many of their familiar Peninsula  faces, they are adding some members of Rumspringa such as Ricky "Dwight Howard Like Smile" Holmes, Kecia Warner, and Guy Sumrall.

For The Emperors Club were ranked in a pre-tournament captains poll as the 13th seeded team in the field. In addition to VIP stalwarts John Laneave, Thomas "Juice" Welch, Erin Welch, Matt Martin, Julie Martin, Brent Wentworth (3rd person alert!), Eddie Seavers, and Amy Lowe, the team is adding several talented members of the Jagernauts and 5 O'Clockers. Kevin Gitkos, Katie Litle, Jeff Pauley, Allen Walker, and Courtney Travis will be filling out the roster.

"We expect to go out there and play hard, and build upon our competitive showing in Virginia Beach last month," Captain Brent Wentworth said to himself in an exclusive interview, "And even if the results aren't there, we are pretty much guaranteed to look the best out there in our new nike jerseys."

The highest ranked team from the Peninsula is Victory in da Feet, which was voted to the 11th seed. Although this is technically a Norfolk team, you'll notice that David Dixon's team is very similar to the Peninsula's Vicious & Delicious. VD's Justin Schauf, Joey Smith, James Salgado, Bryan "NoShoes" Moore, Noelle Walsh, and Jimmy Wilcox are making the trip with ViDF. Members of the team also include the VIPs' Anthony Williams and Patrick Jones, as well as JFK's Eric Stevens. Without a doubt, this is a very talented team that has high aspirations.
