Just got back from Vegas last night. Man, am I wore out. Thursday through Monday, kickballers from all around the country descended on Sin City to celebrate WAKA's Founders Cup weekend.
Although no VA Peninsula teams made the trip (
The Emperors Club was going to go, but what had happened was...), the league was still very well represented. The Clockers
Josh Waldrop &
Randy Devlin both played with their VA Southside team, The Situation and made a good run into the Elite 8 of the tournament. JFK's
Matt "The Experience" Barcus somehow managed to get on the roster of Atlanta's Flying V, which ended up making the Elite 8 as well. Matt's JFK teammate,
JC Cashwell, had the most successful day of all, pitching the defending champions, Panik Attack, all the way to the final game, before falling just short. In the end, OSC from Washington, DC won the 60 team Founders Cup,
5-1 over PA. The atmosphere at the finals was awesome, as a couple hundred kickballers stayed to watch the game, beers in hand, chanting and cheering the entire time.
But those 4 players weren't the only VA Peninsula representation. Additionally, several other Peninsula kickballers came out to party and support. There were all kinds of parties and events going on this weekend, and it was definitely a great time. Rather than try to describe it, I figure I'll share some pictures courtesy of the lovely and beautiful,
Dottie Wood.

On Sunday, I entered a beer pong tournament. Former CG and now current
regional manager for WAKA in DC, Joel Dusoe was my partner. We had a
good run, made the quarter finals, and drank a shitload of free beer. |

All in all, it was a damn good time. I would highly recommend the trip to any kickballer, whether you have the opportunity to play or not.
*Update*
Forgot to give a shoutout to Free Ballin's John Wilkinson who made the trip and reffed the entire Founders Cup, all the way to the finals!
