Get to Know the New Bowling Commissioner

Since becoming the new commissioner for CLUBWAKA Bowling, I hadn't done a formal introduction of myself. So I took to Facebook to see what people wanted to know:

Q: Why did you decide to take the commissioner position? - Brent W. Jr
A: To keep it in the family after Brian stepped down. CLUBWAKA has given me so much, that this was a way I can give back to it and hopefully share what it has given me with others in the league.

Q: What do you like best about WAKA bowling? - Trish P.
A: I like the fun, laid-back atmosphere... I was never a great bowler (I'm still not), but I can still go out every week and have a good time! I also like throwing Trick Shotz and was really happy I have found like-minded people to make a team of it for multiple seasons.

Q: How did you come up with Felicity’s beautiful name? - Karen S.
A: We got the idea for Felicity from the character Felicity Smoak of Arrow... we are super behind on episodes though, so no spoilers please!!! Arrow was one of the first shows Brian and I watched as a couple. We liked that the name was uncommon, yet not too unusual.

Q: What brought you to Virginia? - Karen S.
AI came to VA for a teaching job! There weren't many positions available in PA, so I made the move after graduating college.

QWhat do you love most about Brian? - Lisa F.
AI fell in love with his charismatic personality. That grew to love of so much more! And now, I love most the love I can see he has for Felicity.

QAre you an only child? - Lisa F.
ANo, I'm the middle of 3 girls.

Q: How many kids do you and Brian want? - Lisa F.
A: Whatever happens, happens. I'd always thought 2-4, but we got so lucky on #1 I'm ok with that being it if that's what's supposed to happen.

Q: What was your favorite subject in school? - Lisa F.
A: Math. Numbers always clicked for me. I liked that there were different ways to get to the correct answer, but the answer was the answer and not up for discussion.

Q: When you were younger, what did you want to grow up to be? - Lisa F.
A: A teacher. The grade varied as I got older, but I always imagined teaching math. I was lucky to fulfill that dream for 5 years - teaching math at Hampton HS - before taking on a full time job as my other dream job... a mother!

Q: Since Ms. Felicity was a surprise, what was your initial reaction to finding out about being pregnant? - Lisa F.
ABy the time we officially found out, I pretty much knew already... the shock came with how far along I was.
Q: How far along were you? - Brent W. Jr.
A: Once we were able to get an appointment and medically confirmed, I was 5 months.

Q: What are your 2 favorite movies? - Lisa F.
A: My favorite Disney movie is definitely Beauty and the Beast!

I'm partial to the original animated version, but the live-action was good, too. Another movie... I don't really know. I like pretty much anything, except horror.
Favorite sports movie: A League of Their Own
Favorite chick flick: The Notebook
Favorite lesser known movie: Take the Lead

Q: Do you prefer the pool or the beach? - Lisa F.
A: It depends on what I'm looking to do... if I'm going to swim, pool; if I'm going to play or hang out, beach. I don't mind lounging at either, but I'd get bored and want to do something.

QWhat is your favorite CLUBWAKA sport? - Theo G.
ANo offense to bowling, but kickball will probably always be #1 in my heart. It's where I got started and introduced to the wonderful WAKA family. It is also a nice combo of the two sports I grew up playing - soccer and softball.

Q: Do you watch GoT? - Tracy D.
A: Yes! I'm very much looking forward to the final season - the one bad thing about bowling being on Sunday nights this season lol. I have also read the books that are out and am interested in reading the others once they are finished and published.

Q: What is your favorite ride/attraction at BG/WCUSA? - Tracy D.
A: Probably Verbolten, but I've been spending most of my recent visits in Sesame Street Forest of Fun. I haven't had a chance to ride the new one that opened last year - Invadr - but it looks cool. I also love going to Christmas Town and seeing all the lights! I've never been to WCUSA.

Q: What do you teach? - Tracy D.
A: I taught high school math - mainly geometry, but I also taught International Baccalaureate classes covering algebra through calculus.

Q: What is the “Weekly Team Challenge”?? - Tonya H.
A: The Weekly Team Challenge will be announced on Sundays before league play, unless extra time is deemed necessary.
PS: This blog is a HINT for this week's Weekly Team Challenge!
