York County Friday Kickball - Fall 2019 Player Guide

Welcome to the Fall 2019 CLUBWAKA York County Friday Night Kickball League! We have an awesome season planned with lots of cool stuff and fun. We want to take some time to cover some important information prior to kicking off week 1!

LEAGUE LEADERSHIP

Please allow us to introduce your leadership team. To ensure that CLUBWAKA York County Friday Kickball League has the best possible experience this season, Curtis Blauch will be serving the league all season as Community Coordinator. If you have any questions, feedback, or need any help at all, please don't hesitate to reach out! Curtis can be reached at cbluach@clubwaka.com.

FALL 2019 SCHEDULE

The schedule has been released and can be located through the Schedule website

NOTES:

  • All games will be played at Kiln Creek Park (2901 Kiln Creek Pkwy, Yorktown) This season we will be on the baseball field for the first two weeks and then primarily located on the soccer fields.
  • Regular season games are scheduled for 6:30, 7:30 unless make up games need to happen.
  • TIME LIMITS: Each game will be scheduled for 7 innings or 60 minutes. When reffing, be mindful of the time. No new innings should start after the 20-minute mark of the hour (ex. For a 6:30 game, the next inning should not start after 7:20 PM). Any inning that was started prior to the 20 after mark should be completed in its entirety if it rolls past 20 after, unless the home team has a lead.
    • It’s important to respect each other’s time. Some recommendations include arriving early to ensure you’re ready to begin at the scheduled time. Avoid excessive warming up in between innings. Hustle on and off the field. Always ensure you have a back stopper behind the catcher to retrieve passed balls.
    • Grace period for the 6:30 game is 15 min. and all other games there is only a 5 min. grace period.
    • The 50 minute warning does not change even if games started late. So please be respectful of each others time.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

If there is inclement weather and we need to cancel games, the announcement will be communicated through e-mail, Facebook, and Remind as soon as a decision is made. If you have not received notice that we are postponed, assume that we are playing!
  • Primarily we will use Facebook and email to contact about the league and any cancellations. We know that not everyone checks any of these so this season we are gonna try a new program called Remind! Use the following link: remind.com/join/g3b936. It will prompt you to add your phone number and then I can message the league through there straight to a text message so you get the information faster!

RULES & REFFING

All CLUBWAKA league games are officiated by fellow players. Let’s take a quick moment to go over some helpful tips that will help you not just as a player, but also as a referee.

  • Be familiar with the rules: The Official Rules of Kickball can be found here. There is also a very helpful FAQ that can be found online as well.
  • A few of the most Prominent rule changes are We now play 7-inning games, 10 players in the field, have added restrictions on male bunting, and 1 less foul.
  • Permanent Head Ref Program! Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, most games this season will feature an experienced head ref. Teams will only be asked to provide base refs.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions. I never cease to be amazed at how helpful and friendly this crazy kickball community is. There is no shortage or people who would be happy to give advice!
  • Be confident, do your best, and don’t stress. J
  • As a note: We may not always have enough home refs for every game. Curtis will let your captain know as soon as he has need for additional refs.
  • If you are interested in being a home ref please let Curtis know. Refs will be paid with credit to future seasons!
