The "Tablers" in their natural habitat
As discussed in previous editions of the #BarBuzz, Luckies is complicated. Last week we got to see all of the species of WAKAies in their natural habitat; the “Tablers”, “BARbies”, “Wobblers”, etc.

Side note: “BarBeltarians” and “WAKA Groupies (WG's)” are species that have yet to be highlighted, but will make appearances in a #BarBuzz to come.

Unique mingling...
Something that I noticed last week is how people MINGLE with others. It’s actually very fascinating. So let’s look at “The Art of Mingling”, because it really is an art! Now you can go read any of the books that deal with overcoming “minglephobia” and what opening-lines you can use, but those are so technical...

Here’s #BarBuzz’s
The Art of Mingling: Overcoming Minglephobia in a World of Minglers.

  1. Drink Up: When you enter Luckies on #WAKAwednesdays, head straight to the bar and get a drink. It can be water, a beer, sprite, anything. Just get something to put in your hands. No one wants to have to figure out what to do with their hands…awkward.
  2. Buddy-Up: You need a Partner In Crime (PIC) to ease the awkwardness of mingling. It’s easier to bounce your humor off of someone who already knows it than to just dive in cracking jokes with that catcher from the other team who thought your joke was terrible…don’t be THAT guy/girl.
  3. The “Walk-Up”: This is the pivotal moment of any mingling you might do – How to walk up and thrust yourself in a conversation. This takes skill. Don’t be the creeper who walks up mid conversation and just enters. You’ve got to break the conversation and make your presence known. My go-to is to walk up, say “hey dude”, give a high five, then start talking…people seem to take kindly to this as I receive numerous high-fives on #WAKAwednesdays.
  4. Timing is Everything: They key to mingling is that it’s short. Enter the conversation, make your presence known and then disappear. You don’t need to have 30-minute philosophical conversations about the physics of your bunt…just chat. In this case, shorter is better.
  5. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat: With as many people as possible. The art of mingling is about balancing the quality of conversation with the quantity. Make them remember your name, make them remember you.

So who are the “Master Minglers” from last week? Who will be this week’s “BarBeltarians”, basking in the glory with B&C Gang? Though this team has the absolute worst color shirt ever which makes it almost impossible for them to stand out, they were all over the place last week – taking shots with the “BARbies”, wobbling with the “Wobblers”, taking a ton of duck face photos for the #BarBuzzChallenge, and at some moments being the only people on the dance floor.

Balls So Hard, y’all made me proud.

I'd also like to give a quick shoutout to resident #Barparazzi Rachel for taking a million pictures, Kelsey for never failing to occupy the dance floor, Kickin' Atoms for having an AWESOME turnout in not only the #AMP but the #Kickoutphoto as well, Kick A$$ for rocking the Karaoke area, and Troy for buying EVERYONE shots.
Any other fun memories? Comment below!

So I’ll be nice this week and give you your #BarBuzzChallenge early: make a new friend. Mingle with people, find someone new who will blow you away with their mingleness, and then take a picture with that mingler and tweet it to: @WAKAbarbuzz. Because in the end that’s what WAKA is all about; making new friends.

#AMP

#BarBuzzChallenge
Peace out dudes.

p.s. picture placement in this blog is SO tricky! I just want the pictures to have a nice flow :(
