Week 2 has gone by, and the KILFS can add another mark in the win column. This week, they played Ball Amelia Harveycutter. While a good portion of her team is fairly green, a few faces like Geno Searfoss and Felicia Griffin were recognized from their first seasons as part of WAKA’s 2013 Summer Draft League. Amelia did not seem to be her normal self as she wasn’t heard yelling across the field at her players. That is probably because Mike Harvey isn't there for her to yell at this season. “Mike Harvey, don’t do anything stupid!” is probably one of the things she says most on the kickball field. Instead, Amelia was more focused on coaching and putting her players in a position to succeed.

In the first inning, The KILFS got started early with two singles from Chris Storar and Kippy Holbrooks. With one out, Brandon “Boomer” Covington blasted a ball into the outfield for a sacrifice that brought those two in to score. The B&CG got a couple of singles from their top, but were unable to bring in any runs.
Brandon Pickering from the KILFS laid down a good bunt towards third base in the second inning, and the throw from the B&CG charger went wide, allowing Pickering to turn and pick up an extra base. Ted Phillips and Kayla Via put in bunts to move Pickering to third and with those bases loaded and one out, Lisa Marie kicked towards third base, bringing Pickering in to score. The defense got Ted out at third however. The KILFS would not be able to score again that inning. The second inning was another rough one for the B&CG as they were again unable to bring in any runs.
The third inning was the most exciting for the B&CG, as they had runners in scoring position. A nice kick that landed just behind Randall Hammond at shortstop moved a runner to second base. They were not able to capitalize. With two outs and a man on third, they kicked a pop fly just beyond second base which was caught and ended the threat of a score. The KILFS were unable to produce, as the B&CG made some nice defensive plays and held them at bay.
In the fourth inning, the KILFS scored three more runs off of kicks from Randall Hammond who brought in Tyler Bowman. The B&CG had a never quit attitude, and it showed. They kicked a couple of line drives that would definitely have put up runs, but Hammond made two nice grabs at charger to end the inning.

The final inning was rather uneventful, but the KILFS ladies managed to fill the bases without any help from the guys but they just couldn’t capitalize. The B&CG again were unable to produce any runs
Next week, the KILFS face off in a highly anticipated game against Peanut Butter Jelly Time in what is going to be known for the “Game of the Week” for week 3. The Ball & Chain Gang takes on New Kickheads on the Block.
