'Merica the Beautiful

Happy Memorial Day WAKA family!  I haven't written in a while and thought today would be a perfect day to revamp the WAKA fashion blog I had started at the end of last summer, as this one is just beginning.  We have had some fantastic events that have gone on the past few weeks thanks to our fearless leaders Brent Wentworth, Brian Neal, Fagel Baer, Keith Morehart, Mike Kern, and others who have put so much time and effort to make WAKA great and bring the community together.  Between the Mid-Atlantic Tournament, the parties, and theme nights we have had quite the colorful pleather of events that have held this group together despite the rain cancelling out weeks of kickball.

So how does this all relate to fashion?  Well I'm glad you asked.  One of the greatest accomplishments leaders in America have done throughout the years is to create an environment where the dress norms can range from formal to informal, which allows differences to be accepted and included in every aspect of life, and in WAKA, that was one of the most attractive qualities of this social community I have seen.  You see appreciation for the fashion of people in every walk in life, and in several different professions.  As we honor the memory of what created this area, the military, we should appreciate the professions of all those shaping this community as well.  Here below we see Justen Wullenwaber, Geoff Morehart, and William McKendree, who all are integral parts of this community.  Justen serves in the military, Geoff brings together an astounding community through Jungle Gym, and William, who has his own business through Mckendree Services, not only is an amazing leader, but a friend to everyone in the WAKA community.

Theses individuals not only display a great sense of fashion in the WAKA community, but also an immense amount of integrity as leaders, but let's not forget some of the great women in WAKA.  After all, we are discussing fashion and leadership.  A few of the first women in WAKA I met were Diane Griffin and Paola Babrow.  These women not only have always displayed a sense of inclusion and fashion, but also have always had a welcoming smile on their faces.  Speaking of smiles, I can't think of a lady who doesn't smile all the time more than Brianna Simons, who leads the team Balls and Dolls with William Mckendree.  It is no wonder they won the fashionable bar belt that every team desires on  the week 7 theme for Superheroes.

And last but not least, I am kind of partial to this girl because she is on two of my teams on both Wednesdays and Fridays, but Elizabeth Snyder exhibits a lovely display of America, as she contributed to her team's victory on Superhero week on Hotdogs and Tacos.  She is an amazing lady with a great sense of fashion, not only in attitude, but in amazing kickball skills, and would be a great addition to any team in the future, hint hint Draft League Captains.

So however you are spending your Memorial Day, whether in remembrance of a loved one, celebrating your own service, or spending time with family and friends, please remember to smile.  After all smiling is the best fashion trend you can spread. Now here are some images that will hopefully make you smile WAKA.  Have a lovely day!
