Hey kickballers! Thank you all for joining us for a great Fall season of CLUBWAKA Kickball on Wednesday nights! Congratulations to BOOS ON FIRST for taking home the prestigious Wentworth Trophy®! Even though they were missing a few key players, they battled hard and capped off the undefeated season with a championship! Shout out to all six teams though. It was a great tournament and every game was relatively close. Definitely a great cap to the season.
I want to take a few moments to share some Thank Yous.
- Thank you to the players who volunteered for our permanent head ref program. It is a brand new concept and while it's still a work in progress, it made a big difference. Special thanks to Dan Paisley who did 10 games this season behind the plate!
- Shout-out to Troy Carter who also helped as a perm head ref as well as with field setup and pickup.
- Big thanks to all of our captains for their positive leadership and communication. Captains are the backbone of any league and we couldn't have asked for a better group for our teams. Appreciate you all.
- I do want to call out one captain in particular for some recognition. Thank you to Kaige Aaron for stepping up at the 11th hour and assuming the captaining duties for the team of free agents, NOT YOUR FATHER'S KICKBALL TEAM. You did an amazing job of bringing everyone together and ensuring the group had a great time. I'm so appreciative of your help and I know that your teammates are as well!
- Big props to my squad, Rumspringa! 20 seasons of #WAKAWednesday. That's a truly special accomplishment and I'm so grateful to have been apart of the last three. If this is indeed the end of the road, it's been a hell of a ride. Thank you!
- Thank you to the City of Hampton for letting us play, especially on short notice when War Memorial was taken offline 2 weeks before the season was scheduled to start!

Finally, I want to give a HUGE thank you to our league coordinator, Erica Rice, for consistently providing updates and providing positive leadership throughout the year. As most of you know, this was Erica's last season as a CLUBWAKA coordinator. She's stepping down to focus more on her various small business endeavors. While I'm sure she'll still be around playing with us, her efforts will be missed as the #WAKAWednesday coordinator. Thank you, Erica!
We are currently looking for a Community Coordinator to replace Erica. If you're interested in serving the league as the 'Commish" let me know! Check out the job description and apply online. I'm happy to answer any questions as well.
SPRING 2020 UPDATES
For those who did not see it inside the Facebook group, we will officially be back at War Memorial Stadium in the Spring! The season will begin on April 9th and registration will open for the low price of $55 on January 3rd. While you wait for registration to open, be sure to take advantage of CLUBWAKA's Black Friday Sale. For every $50 gift card you purchase, you'll receive an additional $10 for FREE. Combined with the early bird specials for leagues this is a GREAT DEAL!
WINTER KICKBALL
You don't need to wait until April to get your kickball fix in. Registration is open for our winter league on Saturdays in Hampton. Games are played at 12 and 1 beginning Jan. 25th. We already have 8 teams forming, so we're near capacity.
