Well week 5 didn’t go down the way the Jagernauts would have liked, as the rain kept all of the WAKA kickballers away from beautiful War Memorial Stadium in the first rainout of the season. So, instead, the Jagernauts hit up Luckies early for some pre and post-gaming (though without the games). I’ll leave the Bar Buzz to Bar Buzz Reporter, Trici Fredrick, but wanted to include a few thoughts on the previous week.
Kickball wasn’t the biggest news of the week as the Jagernauts (along with everybody else) found out the US killed Osama Bin Laden over the weekend. Jagernaut resident “military dude” Kevin Gitkos commented, “I was outside practicing my bunting and my off-handed throws to first, when my wife Ashlee Gitkos came out and told me about the news. I’m glad they finally got the son-of-a-bitch. Though when I heard it was a US Navy Seal Team (from Virginia!) I was thinking how a bunch of trained aquatic mammals were able to do that with such skill and determination. But then I realized they were talking about the other kind of Navy Seals. Way to go guys!“ Kim Merritt, a former Navy man himself added “I bet Bin Laden thought he was going to see 72 virgins at his death, but instead he saw 27 Virginians. I’ll drink to those Navy guys today!” Jagernaut pitcher, Mike Seals, when asked about his connection the Navy Seals stated “I’m proud to be a ‘Seals’ today. Thanks guys!”
We’ll return to the action next week when the Jagernauts face Jiminy Kick-It and try to return to their winning ways. So, as a treat for this week, as opposed to my 80’s awesomeness music videos, I’ll leave you with this to keep the patriotism going. See ya!
I like to picture Kevin outside at 10:30 PM on a Sunday night practicing kickball by himself.
