Good morning fine people of the WAKA Peninsula league and
welcome back to another installment of the Jagernaut writuep. The 80s themed week got me to thinking (dangerous) and gave me the idea to start
off the 80's theme the right way with a (semi-coherent)
80's themed writeup. So, without further
ado, lets break out our BeDazzlers, put
on those leg warmers and take a Highway to the Dangerzone.
Week 4 saw the Jagernauts facing another tough opponent in
the Burning Bridges sophomore kickball squad. The Jagernauts promptly lost the
rock-paper-scissors championship and the game started with the Jagernats
kicking at the top of the first. The top
of the lineup were no perfect strangers to the bases as Dan "Balki Bartokomous"
Moore and Jue "Larry Appleton" Mazzitti reached on consecutive singles
to lead off the first. The full bases
were cleared by Julie "Becky Katsopolis" Kittelson and Mike
"Uncle Jesse Katsopolis" Seals.
(OK, Littell, cut-it-out with the nicknames now). The Jagernauts took the 2-0 lead into the
second inning. At one point, Burning
bridges got a run back with the Jagernauts leading 2-1 going into the fourth.
The fourth inning proved to be Burning Bridges finest hour
as they scored 3 runs off of timely placed bunts and bloop singles that found
holes in the Jager defense. The Jagers
came back with one in the fifth, as Dan "Balki Bartokomous" Moore
scored one to make things interesting, but in the end the Jagernauts ended up
one run too short, as they lost 4-3 in week 4.
Said team captain Katie Litle after the game "They're a good team,
and we are too. I thought it was a
really close and hard fought game."
Jagernaut short fielder Kathleen Krohn added "I just wanted to have
fun out there, and I definitely did!"
MVP of the week goes to Kyle Wright, who, in a perfect
version of Don Johnson, proposed to Chicken Tetrizinis Janet Krenn right after
we all went scuba diving in the Bahamas.
(For the record, that brings us now to 4 Jagernaut engagements...am I
the love doctor or what?) Congrats guys!
Ok now onto the greatest song of the 80's by far...
Whooops wrong link... how about now.
