Spring 2012 - Week 8 Results

Holy bug bites, Batman! VA Peninsula traveled to Tabb Middle School this week for another action packed week of WAKA Kickball. Let's run down the results.

Jagernauts 6, NKotB 1
NKotB looked a bit shorthanded in the outfield and the Jagernauts took advantage by going deep. Mike Ramey kicked had a triple and a homer in the game to lead the offensive attack. They closed it out with a pass to Dan Moore at 1B in his last ever game as a Jagernaut. Dan is moving to Texas to start a new job this week. Good bye and good luck, Easy Score!

Battlestar Ballsacktica 6, Foul Balls 2
The Ballsacks, decked out in their super-hero gear, finally broke into the win column by scoring 6 early runs and cruising the rest of the way. The Foulies got some offense going in the 5th, lead by Dennis Gholson's 2 run blast, but it was too little too late.

Just Kickin' It 5, Free Ballin' 4
This was a game that was a bit sloppy at times, but JKI made a few more plays than Free Ballin' to earn the victory. From what I saw, Anthony Thounhurst had a great game behind the plate for JKI and the big legs in the middle of the order were landing some clutch kicks. Free Ballin' had a chance to tie the game up in the 5th, but "Shit Kan" Tommy Zuppke was thrown out at home to secure the big upset for the Crickets!

JFK 7, Rumspringa 0
These two teams played in one of the best games in WAKA VA Peninsula history last year, when JFK narrowly edged Rumspringa in extra innings during the Spring '11 semi-finals. This game did not live up to that classic, as JFK overwhelmed a defense that statistically had been the best one in the league up until this week.

Shake N Bake 11, Moose Knuckles 3
This was the first matchup between these two teams since Nick and Jiselle Anderson left SnB to reform the Knuckles. Shake N Bake's offense rebounded well after it's dissapointing week 7 performance. Lead by Scott Duncan's 4 RKIs (including a 3 run bomb), the Bakers exploded for 11 runs.

5 O'Clockers 3, Peanut Butter Jelly Time 0
In his last game, Daniel Reyes was rocked by Free Ballin' for 5 runs against his personal ERA. This time, he came back with a vengeance against PBJ. Reyes and the Clockers had a perfect game going though 4.2 innings, but PBJ's Jason Burnette broke it up with a bunt single. The PBJ defense to their credit held the Clockers to 3 runs, but they just couldn't get the base runners needed to penetrate the 5OC defense.

Burning Bridges 9, Chicken Tetrazzini 3
The Bridges can kick line drives with the best of them, and their high powered offensive attack was too much for the Angry Birds defense on Wednesday.

Kick Ass 7, Chubby Gangsters 2
KA is firing on all cylinders right now. The hottest team in the league dispatched the Care Bear Gangsters and extended their winning streak to seven games in a row. Then the cherry on top was their dog, Danger, going home with one of the CG girls afterwards. Play on, playa!

JFK 5, 5 O'Clockers 5
A wild game between two of the Wentworth Trophy® favorites. The Clockers took a 5-0 lead into the last inning and looked to be in complete control. But they couldn't contain the JFK top of the order for a 2nd time. The Kennedy's loaded the bases and Matt Barcus kicked a 3 run triple to clear the bases. A few kickers later, Wes McClain rifled a ball into right center that appeared to plate 3 more runs. However, the referee called JC Cashwell out at 2nd for failing to touch the base as he rounded, and only two of the runs counted. The Clockers stopped the bleeding there, and the end result was the draw.
