It's that time again! Wait... it's never been this time before. We've never done a summer league before. We've never done an express league before. We've never done a draft league before. We've never done ANY of this before. So first and foremost, let me thank you for helping pioneer this exciting league and allowing WAKA VA Peninsula/Raptor/Patriot to grow even bigger and get even more exciting!!
That being said, we are only 2 days away from the Meet 'n Greet combined with the first ever Draft Party! Cactus Steakhouse in Yorktown, Virginia will host the event this Wednesday June 27th. The event itself starts at 7:00 pm, while the draft will start promptly at 7:30 pm. Cactus will be offering all of the specials they will also be offering during the rgeular season:
$2 22 oz. PBR's
$2 16 oz. Domestic Draughts
$3 WAKA Bombs
$2 Burgers
$2 Tacos
As you can see there is something for everyone when it comes to what Cactus has to offer us. And not only that, but starting at 9:00 pm, there will be karaoke! You don't have to be in the draft to enjoy the type of party going on this Wednesday!
I did want to go ahead and announce the teams, captains, and colors for this summer season:
America will be captained by Emily Cook and Nathaniel "Jorts" Johnson and they have chosen White as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
Balls of Fury is captained by Tim Paetz and he has chosen Maroon as their jersey color. They are a formed team and will not be participating in the draft.
Beast Mode will be captained by Geoff Morehart and Nick Anderson and they have chosen Gangster Blue as their jersey color. They are also an already formed team.
Blood, Sweat, & Beers will be captained by Jesse Jones and Bryan Pena and they have choseCardinal Red as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
Buster & Cregen (they will have a team name by Wednesday) will be captained by William "Buster" Patterson and Cregen Brady and they have chosen Rumspringa Blue as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
Crushing On You will be captained by Emmanuel "Manny" Andersen and Crystal Tanner and they have chosen Ballsack Orange as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
Just For Kicks will be captained by Bryan Freed and Courtney Efird and they have chosen Foul Balls Green as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
Mean Green Machine will be captained by George Kiriazidis and Dominique Smith and they have chosen Dark Green as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
Rec 'n Ballz will be captained by Nikki Leblanc and Phil Baltzis and they have chosen Pink as their jersey color. They will be a draft team.
The draft itself will be a snake style draft. We will be announcing drafts picks to the crowd in the bar, however we will only publicly announce the first several rounds. If you would like to know where you were draft, you are more than welcome to ask myself or your team captain, we just won't be making it public information so there is no chance of anyone's feelings getting hurt.
It's going to be one exciting night at Cactus, and I guarantee youre not going to want to miss out on it!!
I also wanted to drop just a few reminders about the regular season. Games will be played on Wednesday nights at teh York County Sports Complex. The season starts on July 11th and ends August 8th. Our sponsor bar will also be at the Cactus Steakhouse where every night of the week they will offer those sweet deals and karaoke! And lastly, the End of Season Party will be on Saturday, August 11th.
