Kickballers,
Was that an awesome spring season, or what? I hope everyone has as good a time over the past couple months as I have. I just want to take a few moments to thank some individuals.
- To Britney Travis, Jeffrey Pauley, and the rest of the 5 O'Clockers, thank you for continuing to bring your team back season after season. How fitting that in the season you all celebrated your 100th game, you ended up winning it all! Well deserved!
- George Kiriazidis and Bryan Freed: Thank you all for your help setting up the fields. With my (real life) job keeping me on the other side of the water, it was sometimes difficult to get to the fields early. It was nice knowing that I didn't have to stress about getting there because I knew you all had it on lockdown.
- Bryan Pena, Matt Wellbrock, and Nathaniel "Jorts" Johnson: I've had an awesome time filming 3 Up 3 Down with you dudes. Thank you for investing several hours this season talking about kickball for dozens of viewers on YouTube. Seriously, how many kickball leagues out there have their own podcast?... While on the subject of 3U3D, thank you to everyone who watched and shared your feedback. I hope you all enjoyed our efforts.
- Melissa Rarick, Andrea Hoffman, and the rest of WAKA Kicks Cancer: Over $4,000 raised to support the American Cancer Society. I don't feel like you guys got nearly enough recognition for your hardwork. I'm very proud to have been apart of the Relay team! I hope we continue to support this worthy cause!
- Trici Fredrick: Another awesome season of the Bar Buzz! Thank you, Gossip Girl!
- Jeffrey Scott, AJ Derr, and the rest of the WMS staff: We are lucky to be able play in the best damn fields in all of Hampton Roads. Thank you for all of your support!
- To Chris Bartnik, Ducki, and the all the Luckie's crew: Thank you for two wicked parties and a season full of great times after the games. We're just as lucky to have Luckie's as our official clubhouse!
- Thank you to everyone who volunteered at some point during the year, especially those who carried the load reffing. You guys are appreciated!
- All of the captains: You guys leadership is so vital to this league. Being a captain can sometimes be a thankless job. Lots of additional responsibility and stress, but you guys killed it. So much positivity and support. You guys made my job really easy at times.
As many of you already know, this has been my last season as the active Commissioner of VA Peninsula. I will still be working with WAKA and supporting our league, but with personal/professional life encroaching on my free time, it was time to turn over the day to day operations to someone else. But in doing so, I couldn't be more comfortable with this transition knowing that Keith Morehart is taking the reigns. Keith is no doubt going to take the ball and run with it while continuing to grow and develop this awesome kickball community! Thank you so much, Keith, for everything you do. Looking forward to playing in your league for many seasons to come!
Within the next few weeks, you will receive an e-mail survey from WAKA. Please take a few moments to share your feedback. Let us know about both what you enjoyed about this season and what you feel can be improved. Your feedback is very important.
Well, I know this e-mail is kind of long, so I will wrap it up. Finally, I just want to say thank you to everyone who signed up to play this goofy kid's game with us. We have such a fun league full of so many great people. I've made a lot of friends this season and in seasons past. I'm proud to have had a part in growing the league from only four teams in 2007 to 16 strong. I love to see everyone together having a good time each week and forming relationships. Thank you, again, for all the good times.
