Chubby Gangsters make free agent signings in the off season

The Chubby Gangsters started out the Spring 2012 season hot but fizzled out toward the end. Some may say their lack of experience is to blame while some may say their inability to show up to the field sober had something to do with it. What was obvious though, was if the Chubby Gangsters want to be considered serious contendors for a top spot, they are definitely going to have to add some pieces.

Well on Sunday, July 8th, they did just that. Their first pick-up is actually a re-signing. Gerlayn Mitchell played for the Gangsters in the Fall of 2011 and will be bringing her bunting talents back to the Gangster Blue team!

The CG's 2nd signing may be a bit of surprise to some, but those close to the game understand. Their newest acquisition is none other than Chris "Bundy" Lebanc. Bundy has played in the Peninsula league since Spring 2010 (making this his 6th season) and has won 2 (count 'em 2) Wentworth trophies with the VIP's and Vicious & Delicious. Bundy brings a ton of kickball knowledge however, having played on the southside for numerous seasons prior.

Buster Patterson may be the most excited, as now he won't be the only Gangster taking home plate during reffing duties

How does this shape up the Chubby Gangster's for the upcoming Fall season? Will they be pursuing anymore free agents in the flood market this off season? Will other teams be making any moves?

On a sidenote, Bundy has been serving our county over in Djibouti Africa and has missed both the Raptor Winter season as well as the Spring Peninsula season. We are excited to have him back in our league and appreciate everything he is doing for us to ensure that we are able to continue to play this game that we love. Thank you for everything Bundy, and we can't wait to see you and your face paint soon!!!
