Ballsacks Learn to Choke Chicken

Recap by Karen "The Silent Killer" Savell

The Angry Birds and the Ballsacks duked it out Wednesday night and it was almost a fight to the finish! The Ballsacks were looking to continue their winning streak after eating PB&J for lunch last week, and they were hungry for some Chicken Tetrazzini...

... but the CT's said NOT SO FAST....and held Battlestar to no runs at all in the first inning. What?! Uh-huh! Them Chickens were struttin' their stuff on defense that inning! Well placed bunts don't mean Jack when you've got well placed throws to knock 'em out. But the Ballsacks answered back with a tight defense as well to shut out the Chickens.

Author's Note #1: Hey, did you know that when you misspell Tetrazzini on a smartphone, one of the replacement words for it is "transvestite?! Thanks, Geoff Morehart, for letting us in on that awesome information! It all makes sense now! Nowhere on earth are the men more proud to wear pink than on the CT team!

Ok, back to the game.....

Yes, I am stalling!! You don't want to know what happened next. Alright, the CT's kicked a 1 run homer, ok?! Ok! That is all...mostly...sort of. ALRIGHT ALREADY!! Um....CT Charger David Show booted the snot out of the ball to right field where....um...it was BURNED over the Silent Killer's head. There I said it! The Silent Killer got crispy fried!! But she was able to bat it out of the air and kick it back into play. Michael Machie caught it and threw it to 3rd as Dave was rounding it for home. 3rd base couldn't recover quick enough for the throw home and the damage was done, bringing the score to 2-1 Ballsacks. So much for keeping up with the record of no balls dropped in the outfield. Yep, set that sucker back to ZERO. :/ Thanks for showing the Silent Killer some humility, pal! Remind me to punch you later...;)

Author's Note #2: In the Silent Killer's defense, she later reported that she became "star struck" when Dave came up to kick, saying that he looked a lot like her hero, the great Peyton Manning, from afar and got distracted...yeah, we'll go with that.

Some awesome catches were made by MVPeter Kuhr, Kyle Rowley, Jason Wieszek, Andy Tapley and Alison Easterday throughout the game. Even some highlight reel moments from soccer star/1st baseman Joe Stumpo! Joe was determined to choke those chickens on both offense and defense.  On offense, Joe took a head dive slide to third to beat out the throw, and defensively a bunt was kicked to first base where he had to run up on it to get it, then quickly turned and took a dive to tag 1st base before the runner got there for a solid out!  Way to eat grass, Joe!!

Highlight reel moment #2 was when Peter Kuhr and Erin Machie were on 1st and 2nd and Michael Machie was up to kick. (I think I may have heard Mike yell to Erin "Just keep running, honey!" before he kicked.) He blistered that ball to right field where it was missed. Everyone ran in and pretty much the whole team was telling Mike to stop at 3rd, so obviously....he kept going! He turned and saw that the pitcher had the ball in his hands not 5 feet from him and ran, watching for the throw. The throw for the tag missed as Mike jumped 6 feet in the air, up and over the plate, where he finally squirmed back to touch home base. Dang, that guy gives me a heart attack every time!! Whew!!

So, the CT's decided to make it interesting themselves by staging a come back in the final inning. With 2 on base and the score at 6-3, a nice homerun would tie everything, but it wasn't meant to be. A pop up to center fielder MVPeter Kuhr ended the game as he caught the final out.

Victory is tasting pretty sweet! Battlestar is sitting pretty at 2-1 overall and CT falls to 1-1-1. Next on the menu: Chicken Nuggets! (Foul Balls=Fowl Balls=Chicken Nuggets!) Yummmmmmm
