Ladies & Gentlemen I'm excited to announce to you the Fall 2012 Season's first theme night. This will not be a typical theme night. While 80's nights are awesome, we wanted to go a different direction this season.
As you all know, WAKA VA Peninsula has opened the registration for their Relay For Life Team for the Newport News event at Todd Stadium. Team Captain Andrea Hoffman wrote a blog last week (http://wakavapeninsula.blogspot.com/2012/09/waka-kicks-cancer-register-today.html) highlighting all you need to know about our involvement in this incredible opportunity to give back to the community.
Last year, we raised $4,000 as a league, which is awesome, but we would like to raise that ante this year. So let's kick this pig and get started!
Since October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month, WAKA VA Peninsula will be hosting WAKA Kicks Cancer Night at War Memorial & Luckie's Party Bar on October 10th. We are going to use this night to get a jump start on the fundraising and will be raffling off some gift cards at Luckie's after the game. Not all the official prizes can be announced, because they are still coming in, but I promise you there are some great donations we will be giving out. Tickets will cost $5 a piece or 3 for $10. We will start selling tickets on the 3rd and will continue to sell them up until the actual drawing at Luckies on the 10th. You will not have to be present to win (we know where you'll be the next Wednesday).
Since it is Breast Cancer Awaresness Month, we would also like to encourage everyone to wear as much pink as possible. Because after all, who doesn't like boobies?
Start spreading the word of not only the event, but especially the Relay for Life Team! Thanks for all your support and looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!
In the immortal words of Commissioner Buttworth - "Fuck cancer!"
