(Let's pretend that there is a photo of Geoff in a knee brace and on crutches, posing wiith a really sad face here...)
Ok, now to the action of the game! And there's was a lot of it! Both teams held their ground when it came to defense. Battlestar ripped an awesome triple play in the beginning of the game against the Snipers. With runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, a short kick was made to right center field where Philip Tanner ran in to catch it. He stumbled as he caught it (Out #1!) but held on and flipped the ball into the infield where Jason Weiszek picked it up and threw it home. Michael Machie deflected it down and the ball hit her feet before she was able to reach home plate.(Out#2!) The ball bounced off her feet toward the wall and Michael chased after it and ran back to home plate right before another runner was sliding into home where Mike was waiting to tag his arse out for OUT #3!!!! Congratulations to Battlestar Ballsacktica for performing the 1st triple play of the fall season!! Now if they can only get their kicking game going, things could really rock for Battlestar...just sayin'.
Speaking of kicking, Brandon Silver had a kick of pure GOLD that evening. He managed to kick in both of the runs that Battlestar made against FS. He rocked it all night! (And then brought his rocking abilities to Luckies to celebrate for the rest of the evening!)
(Pause and have acid trip visions of awesome image of Brandon's kick not being caught here...)
Ok, back to defense...'cause it's so exciting to see Battlestar come up against the tougher teams and hold them to NOTHING in most of the innings. Sweet plays were made all around, like....catches made by Andy Tapley in right center, and Alison Easterday at short stop. Karen "Silent Killer" Savell silently caught a ball in right field with 2 outs and bases loaded to stuff 'em to no runs that inning. Catcher Michael Machie and charger Kyle Rowley combined forces as a low pop up came between them. They both slid towards each other to get it. At first, it looked like it was gonna be a nasty collision, but somehow Mike balanced the ball on his hand and as he slide into Kyle, the balanced ball fell into Kyle's hands and clinched the catch.
(Have a drunk, passed-out dream of near disaster collision here with Michael posing a great big smile and flashing the peace sign...)
With a score of 3-2 in the final inning, the Ballsacks were up to kick last. With 2 outs and runners on 1st and 3rd, they had a chance to tie or win the whole shebang, but it wasn't meant to be. The final kick was caught and they were only one base away from tying the whole thing up!! What an awesome, fun game! It was tight on both sides of the ball. My analysis of the Ballsacks is if they get their kicking game in order, I have no doubt they could be a threat to the upper echelon teams of this league. NO DOUBT!!!
Next up: The Dead Kennedy's. Watch out! We've got some sneaky assassins on this team and we're gonna kill you and blame it on someone else. It'll be a conspiracy you won't forget! Yeah, that sounds intimidating...we'll go with that...
(Have Italian mob electric shock torture hallucinations of Joe Stumpo with his mean ass goatee and 2 mobsters on either side of him looking really pissed off and packing' HEAT!)
BalllllllllllllllllllllllllllS
