Week 5
Recap-Ballsagna vs. Kicking Atoms
Ballsagna
came into this game with a 2 win running
streak and looking for more. With this Kicking Atoms team being new, Ballsagna
was expecting the unexpected. Being ready for kick aways instead of bunts and
bunts instead of kick aways lifted Ballsagna over the top in this game. But
they also learned the hard way that the Kicking Atoms' defense has tightened
down into being something special in the future! Charger Casey Heck was burning
up the fields on both sides of the ball with quick fielding and hard line drive
capabilities, this dude is already rocking the kickball world! In fact, he and
the rest of his squad squashed the top of the line up in the first inning to
leave Ballsagna scoreless. WHAT?!
Surprise!!
Kicking Atoms retaliated and scored a few to
take the lead. (Uh huh! That's right! We
bad!) But it only lasted for a few innings before Ballsagna blew the game
open wide with the bottom and top of the lineup taking advantage of errors.
Nicole Graziano bunted and scored a run in when the throw was wide to 1st,
which allowed the run to come in and she was able to advance to 3rd. Karen
"Silent Killer" Savell managed to get on base not once, but twice in
the game and scored on a sac fly from George Kiriazidis, making her KA average
at 1.000 in the last 2 games! Holla!! Let's continue the lady trend and talk about
the after party. Were you there? Did you see? Did you HEAR?? Ballsagna's Anna
Boffo stepped up to the mic for karaoke and she wailed it and nailed it,
baby!! Who knew, right?! Can't wait to see her up on stage again!
Ballsagna continued to stick it to em for
the rest of the game and held them, not allowing any more runs for the rest of the game. Lots of excellent base running by Brian Neal, "HotKarl" Schultz, Brandon Accordino, Mike Harvey, Stephen McGrew, Tim Paetz, Jon Lenard, Jon Vrooman, Patrick Jones, George Kiriazidis....is that everybody?! Well, the whole frickin' team did a super cool job on both sides of the ball! ^5 on that!
Ballsagna (Translation for Matt Wellbrock "Balls On Ya") wins 12-2

SOooooo... was it fun playing a team like Kicking Atoms?! Well, can you find exotic hybrid mesons with a directed photon beam?!?! Uh...well that's just a theory now, but I'm sure these dudes and dudettes at Jefferson Labs are hard at work on proving it even as I type this. The answer I'm looking for is YES!! These 'atom gutters' (OMG, see what I did there?! I just thought up a name for their Bowling Team! Now all they need is...a bowling team!!) are a perfect fit into our little WAKA Kickball world and I'm so glad they are a part of it. They looked like they were enjoying themselves immensely and that's what this league is all about! Good luck to you Kicking Atoms! :)
Um...I waited and waited for photos and stats and neither showed up so here's a random photo of George yelling (nicely)...
"What the hell are you doing????!!!"
And the only stat that stands out to me is that this was the very first game that Nicole Graziano did NOT get hurt!! A-frickin-MEN!!
Oh, there is another....The Silent Killer is STILL the loneliest outfielder in WAKA this season...having no balls kicked to her as of yet, she's bored as hell out there picking 4-leaf clovers and chasing butterflies. So BRING IT!!!!! Taunt! Taunt! My grandmother kicks harder than that!!! Come on ya little weakling! Send it my way! Hello?! Hellooooooooo!!!!!!
