Hey kickballers!
Thank you for joining WAKA VA Raptor this winter! We have a fun season planned, as we have 8 teams and over 150 hardcore players in the league! I'm sending this message to go over some details for this season, including schedule, parties, ground rules, etc.
Schedule Released!
The schedule is now online here (google doc) and here (kickball.com), Some notes:
- All games are played at Gosnold's Hope Park. 901 E. Little Back River Rd, Hampton, 23669.
- Based on previous feedback, we've shortened the season length by a couple weeks and removed the 3 PM time slots. But we're still able to pack the schedule with 10 games per team. The result: more double headers!
- Each team is assigned to ref 4-6 games throughout the season. Sometimes, teams will be assigned to ref 2 games at a time. Please take a few moments to read over the Official Rules of Kickball.
- The Jabberjaws and The Situation are on bye during week 5 (2/22) as both teams will be traveling to Ft. Lauderdale for the South Florida Kickball Open.
- The End of Season tournament will be held on March 15th, at 12 PM.
- In the event of inclimate weather, cancellations will be communicated by e-mail, twitter, and facebook.
We will be hosting two official league parties this season!
- Opening Season Kick-Off! After week 1, head on over to our sponsorbar, Checkered Flag. The league will be providing a $400 tab for domestic beers and well drinks! After the tab runs out, the Flag will be providing happy hour prices on drinks and 20% off food! - End of Season Party: Details are yet to be finalized. Save the date of 3/15 though.
- Drink Responsibly. As always, don't drink and drive. Please.
This season, our post game hangout will be The Checkered Flag Tavern, 1721 N King St, Hampton, 23669. Just a couple miles down the road from Gosnolds, WAKA players will enjoy happy hour prices and 20% off food on gameday all season long! Come on out after the games to enjoy a few drinks, mingle, play games, and more.
