VA Penisnula - Players of the Week 5

We actually got to play kickball this week! Here are just some of the players who took the most advantage of the beautiful evening at War Memorial!

Jeff Schildt, P, DCOMB
Jeff Schildt earns his 2nd Player of the Week honor in this young season. Not only did the rookie pitch 5 scoreless innings against the high powered Battlestar lineup, but he also drove in all 3 runs for DCOMB with a slicing home run down the right field line. With or without a beard, #BigJeffShildt is making an impact.

Jeremy Edge, OF/P, Plan B
Edge showed the power that has earned him home run derby championships in the past. He cranked a ball beyond the last outfielder and raced around the bases, grand slam.

Christina Race, RF, Plan B
All of the Plan B girls got recognized for their outstanding play on Wednesday, however, Race gets the nod for her tremendous coverage in the field. With the first baseman and pitcher both pulled away from the bag to field a grounder, Christina raced in from right field to cover and secure the out at 1. If this was Madden, her awareness rating would be a 99.

Joe Knowlton, OF, WAKA Shame

Knowlton made a running shoe string catch in center that triggered a triple play against the Kickheads.

Andrew Schlichte, P, Ballsagna

Schlichte was acquired by Ballsagna earlier in the week for a player to be named later. He made an immediate impact with his new club, going 3-3 and sparking a 13 run outburst for the previously winless 'Sagna.

Jill Simms, RF, JFK
JC Cashwell, Ch, JFK

Just For Kicks was a couple outs away from falling to 1-2. But Jill Simms and JC Cashwell would not have it. Simms slapped a perfectly paced ball deep up the right side that allowed Cashwell enough time to race from 2nd to home for the tying run. It was a combination of tremendous skill and hustle that saved the day.
