WAKA Hampton Roads Media Poll - May 6th, 2014

Doom Squad is one of the top teams to watch in WAKA Hampton Roads this spring.
The Media Poll is back! 2 weeks ago, Plan B ruled all of WAKA Hampton Roads, but after suffering a defeat in week 3 of VA Peninsula, the #1 spot is up for grabs. Keep reading to see where the members of the "3 Up 3 Down" and "It's Just Kickball" podcasts ranked the top 15 teams in the 757!

15. PBJT (7 pts)
League:
VA Peninsula

Record: 1-1
Previous: 7th (-8)
Maxlow's Take: PBJT followed up their epic win against Kick A$$ with an epic beat down at the hands of JFK. The coming weeks will show PBJT to be a contender or a pretender with Ballz Deep and Boom! providing the competition (no one cares about Plan B.)

14.  Battlestar (10 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 2-0
Previous: Unranked
Wentworth's Take: Battlestar has displayed raw power this young season. Can they keep booting their way up the rankings?

13. Yorktown's Finest (12 pts)
League: VA Freedom
Record: 3-1
Previous: 13th
Keith's Take: Yorktown's Finest had a poor outing two weeks ago, but came out and obliterated their opponents this week. They're going to stay hungry and build momentum into the rough part of their schedule.

12. Doom Squad (17 pts)
League: VA Freedom
Record: 3-1
Previous: 12th
Jorts' Take: Doom Squad entered the inaugural WAKA VA Freedom League as a relative unknown. However, they have quickly made noise rushing out to a 3-0 start and falling inches short of an epic upset of #1 ranked Cardiac Arrest. This team has a slew of talented kickers and athletes and although they are newcomers to this poll, don't expect them to leave anytime soon.

11. Wrecking Balls (20 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 2-0
Previous: 11th
Kirby's Take: The Wreckin Balls are 2-0 to start the season after wins against the KILFs and Foul Balls, two games that they were expected to win. The proof will be in the Jellooooooo pudding (cue Bill Cosby face) this week when they play Ballz Deep who's ranked 8th in the polls. Will the Wreckin Balls continue twerkin their way up the polls? We'll find out Wednesday.

10.  Who's Driving Home? (38 pts)
League: VA Freedom
Record: 3-1
Previous: 10th
Keith's Take: WDH has scored the most runs in the Freedom league and continue to keep adding Wins to their record. Oh, and they get Mike Harvey back this week.

8. Kick Ass (48 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 1-1
Previous: 14th (+6)
Kirby's Take: Kick Ass had a surprise loss to start the season to PBJT. I'm not sure anyone was expecting it and the Media have dropped them in the polls due to that loss. But are they really 7 spots lower than a team they beat? What's that? That's disrespect son. So now let's see if they fight like Kick Ass or if they turn it up a notch and fight like Hit Girl to prove a point.

8. Ballz Deep (48 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 1-0-1
Previous: 9th (+1)
Wentworth's Take: These Cheasa-freaks boast one of the most balanced and potent offensive attacks in Hampton Roads. They're going to be giving defenses nightmares all spring long.

7. Eat My Bunt (52 pts)
League: VA Freedom
Record: 3-1
Previous: 5th (-2)
Maxlow's Take: For weeks the podcast crew named Eat My Bunt as one of the top teams. They've live up to the hype, despite their recent loss to Pop Pop (a tight one-run difference.) But they face an empowered Who's Driving Home this week, so it won't get any easier for a while.

6. Boom! (56 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 1-0-1
Previous: 8th (+2)
Wentworth's Take:

5. Rumspringa (65 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 2-0
Previous: 6th (+1)
Keith's Take: Rumspringa has won both of their games in a very convincing manner. Their match-up this week is against the team that has the 2nd highest run differential. Fortunately for Rumspringa, they have the highest run differential.

4. Pop Pop (71 pts)
League: VA Freedom
Record: 3-1
Previous: 4th
Wentworth's Take: Week after week VA Freedom teams rise to challenge Pop Pop, but somehow they find a way to win. This is a talented and resilient group.

3. Just For Kicks (73 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 1-1
Previous: 3rd
Wentworth's Take: The Fighting Freeds are talented up and down the lineup, but will have to take care of business with out star catcher Adam Tatem for a while. He separated his shoulder recently and will be on the shelf.

2. Plan B (81 pts)
League: VA Peninsula
Record: 1-1
Previous: 1st (-1)
Kirby's Take: Despite losing a close one to Kick Ass in Week 2, Plan B still comes in at #2 on the Peninsula. Was the loss to Kick Ass a fluke? Is Kick Ass's Brent Wentworth just that good that he can take over a game singlehandedly and beat anyone? (EDITORS NOTE: Yes.) Or is Pop-Sitch overrated? We'll find out this week when Plan B takes on PBJT, who gave Kick Ass their only loss on the season.

1. Cardiac Arrest (90 pts, 6 first place votes)
League: VA Freedom
Record: 4-0
Previous: 2nd (+1)
Jorts' Take: Cardiac Arrest secures the top spot this week by virtue of a Plan B loss and Cardiac narrowly remaining undefeated. This Cardiac squad has shown the ability to dominate, if not always the will to dominate. As long as this impressive collection of kickballers keep winning, don't expect them to be unseated from their perch anytime soon.
