Bar Buzz - One Hit Wonders

I am so obsessed with the summer draft league, and think everyone should sign up, that I decided that the #wakabarchallenge should be about just that. Recruiting people for the draft! Now there were a bunch of (ok, like 3) people who participated in the challenge and attempted recruiting people. We'll see how they fared in a moment after I disclose the theme for this week's post. Last week was a nice, small, intimate group of people, who represented a good number of (ok, like 7) teams. And only 3 teams had more than one rep....your numbers are failing me my dear WAKA VA Peninsula.

In honor of the few, the inspiring, the brave, the night-owl, social individuals who braved to stay for the #AMP. This week's blog post is all about those one-hit wonders. Those songs that have such a fond place in our hearts but we can barely name other songs by that group let alone the group name. It's like you basically forget that group (team) exists without that catchy, jingle of a song (the individual).

So here's to you. You one-hit wonders, who hold such a dear place in our hearts.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Airwrecka and Friends - Keith Morehart: "C'est La Vie" -B*Witched. This is literally my favorite song in the whole world. And Keith is one of my favorites in the whole world. So obviously he deserves such a high-energy song. Keith, we can talk, we can sing, I'll be the queen, you be the king. You're the wolf today Keith, you'll huff you'll puff you'll blow them away. I also totally see you getting down with an Irish jig sung by a girl-band.

Rumspringa - Brandon Silver: "Better Days" - Citizen King. He's probably seen better days than this one. I'm sure he's been the star of many plays (get it??? like kickball plays??...I'm so punny..).

PB&J - Megan MacDowell: "I Love You Always & Forever" - Donna Lewis. Look at her #AMP face. She'll clearly love everyone always & forever. Also I really will love your team always & forever ;)

JFK - William Mckendree: "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" - The Proclaimers. Because when Will wakes up on Wednesdays he knows, when he goes out, he'll be going out with you. And when he gets drunk, yes he knows he's gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you.

KILF's - Austin Whipple, Tyler Bowman, John O'Donnell: "Jump Around" - House of Pain. This is literally the only song I could think of for these fine gents. Everytime I see them dancing, they're jumping...kind of. Or, they came to get down ;)

Breaking Brad - Brad Gault, Mike Malozzi, Serena D'Angelo, and Mags Waldron: "Closing Time" - Semisonic. Because one of them is always closing the bar down. Without fail. They don't go home, but they don't stay [t]here.

#WAKAholics - Juan Cruz, Sterling Wilcox, Mike Kern, and me (obvi): "Rump Shaker" - Wreckx-N-Effect. Because we try to be sexy, but most people just don't get us (much like these lyrics). We're catchy and you don't know why. Juan Cruz was born to be in this video (in another life). And we also totally scantily play our saxs on the beach...

I wanted to use this one to describe me..... Yea, Bar Buzz is totally up there with Cleopatra and Aphrodite ;)

So now that I've gone through some of my faves, it's time to announce the winner of the belt. Now I struggled with this because I want to always give every team a fighting chance. But the top two teams (Breaking Brad and #WAKAholics) have both already won the belt...so clearly someone gets it twice. Once again, Mike Kern takes his team (#WAKAholics) above and beyond by not only taking the most pictures for the #wakabarchallenge, but successfully committing some of his recruits to the draft league. The only rep to do so from that night. So to you teams who have already won it, if you're killin' it, kill it.

See you tomorrow!
Fages
