VA Peninsula - Fall 2014 Week 1 Recap

Every week, we're going to take a quick look at the results from the past Wednesday. Nothing too fancy. Just short and sweet capsules with a couple of lines about how it went down and give recognition to some of the many players that stood out.

Chaotic KILFs 5, Kick in a Box 2
A pair of doubles by Justin Madon and Todd Gular gave the Boxes an early 2-0 lead, but the KILFs defense would settle down after the first. In the 5th inning, Anthony Monfalcone drove in a pair of runs to give the KILFs the lead. Brandon Covington would tack on a 2 run homer to give the Chaotic ones a comfortable lead.
Players of the Game: Chris Storar (2/2, 2B, 2 R); Anthony Malfalcone (1/2, 2 RKI, R); Brandon Covington (2/2, 2RKI, HR, R)

The Situation 2, Hammers 0
Blake Kalaikai and The Situation defense limited the Hammers to 5 hits in this pitchers’ duel. Manny Anderson was the spark on the offensive side, going 2 for 2 with the contest’s only 2 runs scored.
Player of the Game: Manny Anderson (2/2, 2 R)

Sneak Attack 4, Heads 1

Kelly Bennett’s line drive in the 2nd inning found a hole in the Heads’ defense to give Sneak Attack a 1-0 lead. SA tacked on 3 more runs in a big 4th inning to earn a big opening week victory.
Players of the Game: Randy Devlin (2/2, R); Kelly Bennett (1/1, RKI); Kyle Lewis (2/2, R), McCoy Wood (1/1, BB, 2 R)

Kick Pitches Get Money 9, HWK2 3
I don’t think KPGM could ask for a better start to their franchise than the one they got on Wednesday. The first 6 kickers all came around to score in the top of the first inning as they cruised to a 9-3 win over KILFs 2.
Players of the Game: Adam Shelton (2/2, 2B, 2 R);  Randi Evans (1/1, R, 2 RKI, SAC); Mary Kennedy (2/2, 2 2B, R, 2 RKI)

Rumspringa 3, Fireballs 3
The Fireballs’ Jenn Greene came through in the clutch with an RKI single in the 3rd to tie the game.
Players of the Game: Jenn Greene (1/2, RKI); Todd Schimmel (2/2, 2 R); David Lopez (2/2, 2B, R)

Ballsagna 9, Hot Dogs & Tacos 1
In this battle of food related kickball teams, Ballsagna was supreme. The ‘Sagnas top 6 kickers were a combined 11-11 in the rout.
Players of the Game: Pascal Baumeler (2/2, 3B, 2 R, 3 RKI); Andrew Lowell (2/2, 2B, 2 R, RKI)

Breaking Brad 6, Recess Rejects 1
The Bradleys put up four runs in the first thanks to back to back triples by Ian Fluke and Theo Gardner. The defense held the Rejects to only 5 base runners in the victory.
Players of the Game: Lisa Rock (2/2, 2B, R);  Mike Mallozzi (1/1, 2 RKI, SAC); Ian Fluke (1/1, 3B, R, 2 RKI)

Interventions 10, Resting Pitch Face 2
