WAKA Hampton Roads Week in Review (8.10.2014)

The Dust Bowl became the Mud Bowl.
A look back at all the news and notes from around WAKA Hampton Roads!
  • The highly anticipated VA Patriot Bowl games were washed out by a torrential late summer storm mid-way through the 6:30 contests. But have no fear, they will be made up in their entirety on Wednesday, August 20th. We must have a clear winner of the Cactus Bowl!
  • On the social side, VA Patriot held it's End of Season Party / Fall Meet N Greet at Manhattan's on Friday night. We had an awesome turnout of sexy mustachioed kickballers. Great job to our new social coordinator, Fagel, for knocking it out of the park in her first party!
  • VA Peninsula's Fall 2014 Schedule is now online. Great match-ups. Can't wait for week 12, aka "Rivalry Week".
  • The downfall of Yorktown's Finest was highly exaggerated. Captain Jordan Soles rallied the troops and re-claimed not only their team spot, but their trademark black unis for Friday nights. VA Freedom currently has 14 teams forming and room for more. Sign up
  • 3 Up 3 Down returned from a summer of individual self discovery to shoot a podcast Monday night. Most of the episode was me fumbling through words because I can't handle more than 1.5 craft beers without getting sloppy.
  • A date for the 2014 WAKA Kicks Cancer Charity Tournament was announced! October 25th, 2014 at Briarfield Park in Hampton! All proceeds will benefit our Relay For Life fundraising team. Last year, we raised over $2k. Let's make this event bigger and better this year!
  • The #WAKAholics' Jason Williamson is now a licensed driver for LYFT and is offering a FREE RIDE to anyone for the first time. Use the code: JASON8954. Always a must to have a safe ride home!
  • Don't forget to get your #kickballcancer wristband and show your support for Team Rob.
