WAKA VA Peninsula Fall 2014 - Week 7 Results
Another week of awesome VA Peninsula kickball. Let's take a look at the results.
Heads 8, Interventions 2
A pair of home runs by Dom Smith and Curtis Faubion powered the Heads past the previously unbeaten Interventions.
Players of the Game: Curtis Faubion (2/3, HR, 2 R, 2 RKI); Dom Smith (2/2, HR, 4 RKI); Bez Kargar (2/2, 3B, 2 R)
Ballsagna 8, Resting Pitch Face 1
Plenty of Battlestar alumni are scattered across both rosters. In this encounter, it's Ballsagna that came out on top. Andrew Lowell drove in the first run of the game in the opening frame. It would be the first of Mark Thompson's pair of runs.
Players of the Game: Mark Thompson (2/2, 2 R); Andrew Lowell (2/2, R, RKI); Pascal Baumeler (2/2, 2 RKI)
Recess Rejects 5, Sneak Attack 0
Rumspringa 5, Breaking Brad 0
Forfeits are pretty rare in VA Peninsula historically, but we had a pair of teams that unfortunately couldn't field teams. Looking for both the Brads and Sneak Attack to get back on track in week 8.
Hammers 6, Fireballs 0
Another tough matchup for the 'Balls. They've faced The Situation and the Heads in two out of their last three games and have been roughed up a bit. On Wednesday, they looked like they may have gained some valuable experience as they managed to hold the high powered Hammers to less than 2 runs in each inning. But the Hammers are relentless, like Chinese water torture, and in the end they earned a hard fought 6 run victory.
Players of the Game: Ricky Holmes (2/3, 2 R); Nick Schmidt (1/1, 2B, 2 RKI); TJ Guarry (2/2)
Kick Pitches Get Money 9, Hotdogs & Tacos 1
Despite losing star pitcher Jeff Shildt to a pre-game "stomach virus", KPGM came out hot. They sent 12 players to the plate in the first inning and scored 7 runs to open the contest.
Players of the Game: Adam Shelton (2/2, 2B, 2 R); Mary Kennedy (1/1, 2B, R, 2 RKI, SAC); Jeremy Smithey (2/2, 2B, R)
Hey We're KILFs2 5, Foul Balls 3
In the first inning, the Foulies chose to issue the intentional pass to the dangerous Kippy Holbrooks to load the bases with 2 outs. Stephanie Olsen made them pay for that decision though, as she lined triple over 1st Base to drive in 3 runs and get K2 out to an early lead. The Foul Balls would threaten in the 5th, but could not close the gap.
Players of the Game: Stephanie Olsen (1/2, 3B, 3 RKI); Austin Whipple (1/1, RKI, SAC); Wade Brock (2/2, 2B, RKI, R)
The Situation 14, Kick in a Box 1
KiaB was able to mostly contain the Sitch lineup through the first pass through. After 2 innings, the score was 3-1. But the next time the top came through the wheels fell off and the The Situation stretched their legs out before their big Vegas trip.
Boom 16, Chaotic KILFs 3
