Jorts & Brent's Big Ass Board (6.21.2015)

Eric Cosma is one of several players to crack the big board in June.

The VA Patriot draft is quickly approaching, and who better to rank the top 25 prospects than some of the leading pundits in kickball. Since we last got together, there were only 60 players in the player pool. Since May 30th, the list of available players has widened to over 120, which made our job much more difficult. But if there is something Jorts and I appreciate, it's a challenge. That's what makes us champions.

1. Gene Efird
Charger, Bizarro
Put Bez in a headlock.  Do you need any other reason to rank him #1?

2. Joe Preseault
Charger, The Itch

3. Geoff Morehart
Pitcher, Bizarro
The imposing southpaw hurler is a presence on the mound and behind the plate on defense, but Geoff finds himself near the top of our board due to his versatility on offense.

4. Trey Simmons
Catcher, Cardiac Arrest
Trey made his WAKA debut in the 2014 Patriot Draft and clearly his stock has only risen since then.  Questions remain about an injured wrist, but when healthy he's a shutdown catcher and top of the lineup performer on offense.  He also smiles a lot, which is nice to see.

5. Curtis Faubion
Catcher, The Itch

6. Brian Neal
Catcher, Kicks & Giggles

7. Chris Storar
Pitcher, Chaotic KILFs
The initial scouting report on Chris Storar was "the guy who kicked a home-run against Situtation smoking a cigarette", but the standout from the KILFs successful Spring campaign is so much more.  Chris can pitch,  catch and charge dramatically increasing his draft value.

8. Josh Dell Carr
Charger, American Legion Post #51

9. Brad Kirby
Charger, Peanut Butter Jelly Time

10. Jeremy Edge
Outfield, Bizarro

Classic NoShoes
11. Ryan Warner
Charger, Cardiac Arrest
Warner led off and charged for Cardiac Arrest in their Wentworth Trophy® championship run which skyrocketed his draft stock.

12. Mark Flores
Pitcher, DCOMB
Flores can still mow down kickers on the fast York County sports complex fields.

13. Jason Riley
Pitcher, Cardiac Arrest

14. Casey Heck
Utility, Smokin Bunts

15. Bryan "NoShoes" Moore
Catcher, Chaotic KILFs
The On Base Machine slides in the draft every year, but No Shoes has delivered two patriot league championships to captains who drafted him.

16. Eric Cosma
Catcher, Hotdogs & Tacos
Cosma is a relative newcomer to kickball (basically means he's under 30 at this point) who has lead-off speed and quickness.  His skills at catcher are steadily improving and he could definitely make the jump to the elite class.

17. Brent Wentworth
First Base, Cardiac Arrest

18. Jenn Miller
Pitcher, Kicks & Giggles

19. Nathaniel "Jorts" Johnson
Outfield, Cardiac Arrest

20. Nick Schmidt
First Base, Pop Pop

21. Manny Zapata
Charger, DCOMB

22. Matt Wellbrock
Pitcher, Rumspringa

23. Ian Fluke
Pitcher, Five Toe Death Kick

24. Brandon Silver
First Base, Bizarro

25. Jennifer Gold
First Base, Pitching Dez
Despite playing for an 0-11 team in the spring, Mrs. Gold stood out with her strong play at first base.  In addition, she brings lots of kickball experience and is fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball.  Plus, she really likes when I talk about history.
