Another tremendous season has come and gone. I have some a few closing remarks:
- Congratulations to Cardiac Arrest for winning the championship. Well done. Also shout out to all the competitors on Saturday. Lots of hard fought battles and a positive day all around.
- Thank you to the staff at War Memorial, we continue to enjoy the best possible environment for adult kickball on Wednesday nights!
- Also appreciate the City of Hampton Athletics department for accomodating us on the weeks when the Stadium wasn't available.
- To Tapps, thank you for taking us in after Luckie's became unavailable. We really appreciate the hospitality and will hopefully be working together in the future. The Mid-Season Party was a blast!
- Thank you to Bryan Freed. Every single week, this man came early to help set up the fields. I can't stress how much I appreciate his help. He probably gets tired of hearing me thank him constantly every week, but I'm going to keep on doing it, and I encourage everyone else to as well.
- Thank you to Matt Wellbrock, Nathaniel Johnson, Brandon Silver, Karen Savell, Fagel Baer, and Victoria Davis for providing us with entertainment on the podcast and blog. It's the 'extra' stuff that helps make us a better and more fun community.
- Another shout out to Fagel for all of her hard work planning 3 excellent parties this season, coordinating themes, and recapping the Bar Buzz. Great job!
- Thank you to everyone who helped support our charity endevors. I'm very proud of our community for helping to raise over $7,000 for Relay for Life, and thousands more for three individuals in our league battling illnesses. A great reminder of the strength and power us kickballers have together.
- The most important thank you though goes to the CAPTAINS. They are without a doubt the backbone of the league. All the extra responsibility of recruiting players, coordinating times, communicating updates, setting lineups, making sure reffing assignments are met, and on and on... this group handles it all and does so tremendously. I can't tell you how much I appreciate their leadership.
In closing, I hope that you all had a great time, made some memories, met some new people, and formed some strong new friendships, maybe even relationships. If you did, I ask that you do a couple of things:
- Look for the customer service survey coming in a week or so. Be sure to take it, and provide your feedback. What did you like? What do you think we can do better? We are here now because we have continued to improve every single season. Need the feedback to continue doing that.
- Sign up for the Fall! Registration is now open! www.kickball.com/vapeninsula! Definitely encourage everyone to get in early to help secure your team's spot.
