Thank you to you all for joining us this weekend for the 3rd Annual WAKA Kicks Cancer charity kickball tournament. It was a great event and a beautiful day. Congratulations for LLS for taking home the trophy... But more importantly, together we raised nearly $3,000 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life!
I'm going to take a few moments to thank some individuals specifically. There were so many people who stepped up to help make this event a successful one. Please forgive me if I forget someone.
- Thank you to all of our sponsors, Courtney Efird with Fidelity Mortgage, David Tortolini with Rose & Womble, Will McKendree with McKendree Services, Jungle Gym, Deer Park Animal Hospital, and Old School Handyman Services. Be sure to support these businesses who support kickball and fighting cancer!
- Thank you Bryan Freed and Will McKendree for coming early and helping to set up the fields.
- Thank you to Bryan Moore and Will McKendree (again!) for staying throughout the day and volunteering to ref several games. Really appreciate your service and time... Thank you as well to everyone who stuck around after the games to ensure that we had the reffing duties covered. HUGE help.
- Shout out to Fagel Baer for throwing a great after party for us. The tight and bright theme was fun! Thank you to the staff at Manhattan's for taking excellent care of us Saturday night.
- Thank you to my awesome wife, Dottie Wentworth, for getting up early, helping with the set up, and taking some great photos throughout the day.
- Thank you to David Tortolini, Keith Morehart, Alison Heidenthal, and Kristen Saunders for continuing with additional fundraising efforts at the field.
- Thanks to LV's Restaurant for donating a portion of their proceeds on Saturday to the Relay team.
- Thank you, LaSalle Blanks and WVEC 13 News for coming out and shooting some footage. Looking forward to the piece airing sometime this week that highlights the great work our community continues to do to support this cause.
- Appreciate the City of Hampton Parks & Rec for providing well maintained fields and great atmosphere.
- Finally, thank you to all of the teams captains for their leadership and organization. They put together the teams, made sure everyone signed up, managed the games, and helped keep the tournament running (almost) on schedule. They're the real MVPs.
As you can see, it took dozens of people chipping in and stepping up in order to make the event happen. I can't tell you how proud I am to be a part of this amazing community. Thank you.
Within the next couple days, a customer satisfaction survey will be sent out to each participant. Please take a few moments to let us know how your experience was. If you enjoyed yourself, be sure to let us know what you liked! If you feel like something could have been done better, let us know that as well! Your feedback is critical for us at WAKA.
Thank you all again for a memorable weekend.
