…And On WAKA Wednesdays We Wear Pink. As October is best known as Breast Cancer Awareness
Month, our faithful Hampton Roads WAKA teams all pulled through, and showed
their support wearing pink in all shapes and fashions to the field and bar this
past Wednesday. The pink ribbon has been a symbol since 1991 for this cause, and
was chosen because of its close affiliation with femininity.
The color pink is not only correlated with beauty, love, and
romanticism, but its origin in the 17th century came from the actual
flower of the same name. Hint, hint to all you WAKA promposal people.
More importantly we have an awesome League Social Event
Coordinator, Fagel Baer who makes all the events we participate in extra special,
and that makes all the difference in the world, especially as an active
participant herself in pink attire. Love
the tutu!
And not to show favoritism because I am on this team…well…maybe
I am, but Hot dogs and Tacos showed spirit, not only through the traditional pink team
color, but through additional pink attire and accessories both on the field and
at the bar. Our three team captains
Jeremy Smithey, Talbert Dunn, and Mike Kern are really a phenomenal trifecta
who orchestrated our team’s pink coordination, and even though we may not have
won, our team spirit is always spectacular!
Another great pink siting included the Team Rumspringa, who
most definitely matched their WAKA fashion with their incredible games they
played. As this team remains one of the
top 6 teams in the league, their great attitudes and amazing team fashion are
well noticed.
As we close out our WAKA Pink Fashion Blog for the week, don’t
forget to pull out your pink threads this upcoming weekend for our big Charity
Tournament as well as the Tight and Bright Party at Manhattan’s. Even if you’re not playing, come support your
team league members, and remember, be happy and be pink!
