Free Open Kickball Games @ War Memorial Stadium Tonight!

Reminder and notes for tonight's free open games. We're taking over our regular VA Peninsula venues for a simplified version of “WAKA Wednesday”.

It all starts at 7 pm at War Memorial Stadium (1889 W Pembroke Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23661). We'll have all three kickball fields set up for you to practice and scrimmage. On Field 1 (left field) will be a short rules introduction for any new players as well as a ref clinic for anyone that would like to learn some tips without the pressure of actually reffing a real game.

Field 2 (center field) and Field 3 (right field) will be open for warming up, practicing, and scrimmaging. After the rules and ref clinics, Field 1 will also be open for play. Since these games won't “count”, I also recommend anyone that would like experience reffing take an inning or two behind the plate.

I (Brian Neal) currently plan to hang out around the entrance from the tiki bar to the field if you have any questions or haven't met me yet.

We have the stadium until 8:30 tonight so at that time we'll pack up and head to our sponsor bar, Tapps (1976 Power Plant Pkwy, Hampton, VA 23666). They'll be offering the same great specials that we'll have during the season ($3 domestics, $4 well drinks, $5 craft beers, 50% off appetizers). Tonight WILL be part of our weekly Bar Buzz competition, so wear your WAKA shirts and party your asses off!
