I heard from a lot of you that it was either your "first time playing" or that " it's been a while since I played", but I just can't believe it. Everyone looked SO GOOD! It was so much fun watching everyone warm up and play as well as seeing so many old (not by age) and new faces playing in this league.
Thank you to Dottie Wentworth for coming out and taking some amazing photos especially the team shots! Please keep taking photos of each other and if you're the hash tagging type you can use #clubwakapeninsula and/or #clubwakavolleyball and throw them up on the CLUBWAKA Volleyball Facebook page.
I've heard from a couple of you about the rules and just wanted to clarify those based off of the CLUBWAKA Indoor Volleyball Rules.
- Teams may play with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 players on the court at one time. There must be at least 2 of each gender to avoid a forfeit.
- 1 match is 3 total games to 21
- # of hits: I've spoken with a couple of players about the idea of having a girl making contact with the volleyball before it goes over the net when there are two or more volleys. A number of teams (including my own) played this way. I understand the background to the idea, allowing an equal amount of playing time for all, but from what I can see the teams played very fair when it came to sharing the action. This wasn't one of the original rules and in an effort to keep in simple and still fun it will not become one. I do encourage you to play this way if you would like, but there will not be any penalties if not. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion or concern!
Just as a reminder I will be there every week at 6 PM if you would like to get some practice in. Also, please remember to pick up your trash. I picked up quite a few water bottles and want to make sure that we all make the best impression we can at JCC. Thank you so much for respecting the food and alcohol rule!
This is our first season of indoor volleyball, so we're open to feedback. We're already working on the spring season plans, so if the consensus is to modify any of these rules, we can certainly do so before the next season. No changes will be made to the rules during this season, however. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please let me (stephanie@kickball.com) know!
While the games are certainly fun, don't forget to go out afterwards to Manhattans and grab a drink and sing a song. CLUBWAKA players have $6 Bud Light pitchers, $3 aluminums, and karaoke!

PS. We have a great event coming up, CLUBWAKA Annual Charity Bar Crawl. Please join us if you are interested in this great event in downtown Hampton!
