VA Peninsula Bar Buzz - Blackout Edition

Previously on the Bar Buzz: we announced some great new specials at Tapps, Jamie La Crosse threw down some bar games challenges, the league prepared for the America theme week, and in general we all got friggin hyped for a great post game celebration. People were like: 

 And then... 

Darkness consumed Hampton Roads. The thunder clapped and the lightning flashed. Balls of ice crashed down from the heavens. The games were rained out, but certainly this group of Peninsula kickballers would not be deterred from enjoying some $2.50 Rollig Rocks and 1/2 odd ciders. But, Mother Nature was not having it. The torrential downpour had knocked out power to our beloved Tapps, leaving them with no other option but to close their doors for the night. Some poor Fireballs on the outside looking in.

Still, inspired kickballers would not be denied. Lead by Josh Carr's call to action, we took over nearby Park Lane. What better way to celebrate USA week than by hanging out at a British pub?

About 20-30 players showed up to enjoy a few drinks and talk about the kickball that could've been played. Plan B, Cardiac, Foul Balls, HDT, Corn Dogs, and Baby Got Bunts all represented. Josh and Curtis Blauch lobbied me to award the Bar Buzz to "Team CLUBWAKA" since several commishes were out en force ( myself, Liza Maula, Fagel Baer, and Chris Hernandez were also out. After all this rain, it's little wonder why we could use a few drinks.)

In the end though, I have decided in my infinite wisdom to call this week a 'no contest'. Since there was no officially sponsored meeting point, it's not fair to take the title away from Baby Got Bunts. They earned the right to party with the belt at Tapps. And they will be able to once again tomorrow.

(Unless an Earthquake collapses the ceiling or something)
