Mmmm. So good to see so many fine kickballers out on a Wednesday night again. Lots of CLUBWAKA shirts spread out around Tapps. Everywhere you looked there was mingling, games, dancing, and laughter. Now we're talking... On to the rankings.
(NOTE: I will be the first to admit, I got caught up in the moment and just enjoyed myself on Wednesday. After a few Rolling Rocks, I stopped chronicling all of the details. This is why it's important to help me out in the Thursday morning thread. If I overlooked your team, charge it to the head and not the heart.)
14. BAD NEWS BEERS: Gosh, I'm so tired of these hyper-competitive teams just showing up to kick some ass at kickball and then go straight home.
13. ALCOBALLICS: I got to give credit to Kelly. She did her best to carry the Alcoballics flag. Flip cup, jenga, selfies, and 1/2 off ciders. But she can't do it alone. Where you at, maroon??

12. RUMSPRINGA: Matt Effin' Wellbrock was out enjoying a few Rocks just days before welcoming his brand new baby boy into the world! Congratulations!!! (Side note: Rumor is that Rumspringa is planning on making a run at the belt this Wednesday. Fresh off an Ultimate Frisbee title, they want to prove that "all we do is win".)
11. CARDIAC ARREST: We hold down the corner of the bar by the entrance. Friendly faces and Brandon Silver ready to welcome you to Tapps.
10. PBJT: Shout out to Lucas Gselassie coming out and mingling. It was nice meeting you. Saw a few other purple shirts mixed in the crowd as well.
9. GARAGE PARTY
8. FOUL BALLS
7. FIREBALLS
I know all of these teams had people out on Wednesday. I'll be damned if I could tell you a single story or anything that stood out about them though. Edge to Fireballs for Paola, I guess.
6. JUST FOR KICKS: The Kennedys had an under the radar good showing on Wednesday, lead by their fearless leader, Bryan Freed.
5. HOT DOGS & TACOS: It's always tough to defend a title. HDT made a valiant effort. They were in the mix with everything. Games. Salsa dancing. WWE-inspired belt photos. The numbers just weren't there to justify going into the final four. I hold champions to a high standard and you have to really bring it to get a shot at repeating!
I think Jamie enjoyed being BB Champ more than most. |
FINAL FOUR (No particular order)
PLAN B: Despite AJ flaking out, the Bees still had an impressive showing. 50% off Sierra Nevada? You don't need to say much more to get Casey and Shane hyped up. Brian Neal made a cameo appearance with a special pint-sized guest. Wilcox was out partying and somehow Tapps didn't end up burned to the ground. All good things for Plan B.
CORN DOGS & SOFT TACOS: The white shirts had some longevity on Wednesday night, putting more representatives into the AMP than any other squad. They were also holding down the flip cup table.
Eric Machuca has been placed on the disabled list (strained back) |
FORCING THIRD BASE: Once again Josh Carr kickstarted the bar games and F3B had a great showing.
There you have it! One last Wednesday in the spring. Let's bring it once again and close out this season strong!
