CLUBWAKA VA Peninsula Bowling Welcome Packet

Welcome to the Fall 2017 CLUBWAKA VA Peninsula Bowling League! We're set to go for another fantastic season! There is plenty of information on the season website, but keep reading for additional notes to help guide us through this adventure together.

My name is Brian Neal and I'll be your Community Coordinator. Overall, my goal is to help ensure everyone has the best experience possible. If you have any questions or feedback, don't hesitate to have a chat with me or send a message to bneal@kickball.com.

TIME "LIMITS"
For this fall season, please be aware there will be another league that follows us. There should only be a minimal impact as long as everyone keeps in mind the following.

  • Practice will start at 4:45 pm so we can start at 5 pm.
  • Please attempt to avoid significant delays between bowlers (utilize "Skip" if needed).
  • Anyone that desires to hang out or continue to bowl after our league may need to move closer to lane 1. The actual number of lanes required by the other league is currently unknown, but may only overlap about 4 of our lanes.

PLAYERS CLUB CARDS
Returning players (including anyone that skipped the summer season) will have their cards reactivated automatically. New players need to fill out a form at the Sparetimes front desk in order to enjoy the Players Club benefits (discounted bowling and points based rewards system for food and non-alcoholic beverages).

NFL THEME EVERY WEEK
Since we're pushing the NFL environment every week with RedZone on the big screens and fitting food and drink specials, every week will be treated as a theme week. Generally, the rule is that players must wear approved CLUBWAKA shirts. However, for theme weeks, players are allowed to dress up for the theme in lieu of an approved shirt.

SCORE SHEETS
The best practices are listed in the Rules, but please see below for an example. Note the following:

  • Changes to the bowling order can be made in the left column (Week 1 only).
  • At least one male and one female score will count toward the Team Pin Total.
  • Please ensure all scores are legible.
  • The first sheet goes to the front desk.
  • The second sheet goes to me (or someone acting in my stead).

CHARITY
Last season we came up with an idea to not only spark some friendly competition, but work toward a big charitable donation at season's end. We plan to do that again, but we need help picking a charity. I plan to post a vote in our Facebook group. If you're not on Facebook and you have a suggestion to add to our voting options, send me an e-mail ASAP. The details of the game are as follows:

  • The goal is to guess the bowler and the score for the highest single game score that night.
  • Two pots (one for male high score and one for female high score).
  • $1 per guess (may guess multiple times, even in same pot). Cash, Venmo, or PayPal accepted.
  • Winners win 50% of the respective pot with the remaining 50% going toward our end of season donation.
  • Winners have the option to also donate their half.
  • If no one guesses the top game's bowler, proceed to the next highest game until a match is made.
  • If more than one bowler bowls the same high game score, guesses of any of these bowlers advance to the tie breaker.
  • The tie breaker for everyone that guessed the correct bowlers is the closest score guess to the actual high score (going over is acceptable).
  • If the tie breaker results in a tie, the winnings will be split.
STANDINGS, ROSTERS, SCORES, AND TOP PERFORMANCES
I will be tracking everything on an online spreadsheet. It will be embedded in the season website, pinned in the Facebook group, and linked here.
