Another season is upon us. And while it's very easy to see who wins and loses on the field, how do you tell who wins at Tapps? Since everything has to be a competition, I am here to help figure that out. Here's how you can party with the big gold belt.
THE METRICS OF SUCCESS
Before we go into the judging, it's important to understand how we measure "the best". To win at the bar, your team should excel at the following:- ATTENDANCE: Simply put showing up in numbers goes a long way.
- MINGLING: While showing up in numbers is the first step, if you hang out at a table by yourselves it'll only take you so far. Get out and chat with other league members to rise in the standings.
- LIFE OF THE PARTY: What team got the flip cup going? Who started the dance party? Bring the energy and you'll be rewarded with Bar Buzz glory.
- SHOW YOUR WORK: Photos and videos posted on the league Facebook group help a lot. I have a notoriously bad memory and it's even worse after a couple of Alewerks Weekend Lagers (50% off each week for CLUBWAKA members!). Being able to scroll through the page will help me tremendously.
- #REFLOVE: If the refs of your game are out at the bar, be sure to hook them up with a Rolling Rock. They volunteered to spend an hour officiating your coed adult kickball game so take care of them! Be sure to post on the Facebook group too and show them the love.
- LONGEVITY: Did you and your teammates make it to the AMP (After-Midnight Photo)? Wear it like a badge of honor.

RANKINGS
Each week, I'll write up my impressions of the night and rank each team from 10 to 4. The top three teams will not be ranked but put into a poll on Facebook where the league will decide who wins the Bar Buzz for the week.
NOTE: This is not scientific. While debating and discussing the rankings is encouraged, don't take them too seriously. If you get salty about the Bar Buzz rankings, you're doing it wrong. This is all about having fun and increasing Tapps participation and league spirit. If you don't think your team is ranked properly, then show us next week!
Without further ado, let's look at the
FALL 2017 WEEK ONE RANKINGS
THE LONE WOLVES
10. CARDIAC ARREST
9. RUMSPRINGA
8. 5YP
9. RUMSPRINGA
8. 5YP
Myself (Cardiac), David Merritts (Rumspringa), and Alex Jackson (5YP) were holding it down for their respective teams. But they appeared to be the only ones. Shame. SHAME. It's week 1! AJ helped earn the 8 spot for 5YP for running the beer pong table.
THE MIDDLE OF THE PACK
7. DCOMB: I remember seeing Freed and Brad Gault out. But would like to see more from the Honeycombs.
6. FORCING THIRD BASE: Step up, F3B
5. HOT DOGS & TACOS: I remember talking to Curtis Blauch. I also remember chatting with Sarah Szekely, Matt Crawford, and maybe Eric Machuca? Was anyone else out? I'm bad at this. Or am I? Is HDT bad at this? I feel like they have more in the tank.
ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
4. FLAME THROWERS: The rookies had a good turnout on Wednesday. Quite a few forest green shirts were around the bar and I got to chat with a few of the new players who were having a blast (shout out to Shelby, Darryl, Carter, and Travis)(I hope I remembered the right names). They just miss the top three only because they weren't as active with the games and mingling as the top tier. But it's understandable that they're focused on getting to know each other first before branching out. This week, let's see you all on the flip cup table.
THE ALPHAS
In no particular order. The winner will be decided via Facebook poll.
PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME: Purple nation was out on Wednesday!
FIREBALLS: My personal pick for the belt. After telling me some great stories about his bouncing days at Peabody's team captain TJ Guarry told me that orange is on a mission to dominate the bar. And they certainly showed out week 1. Not only did they have the numbers, but they brought the energy
FOUL BALLS: The Foulies celebrated the start of their 19th (!) season with a great time at Tapps. About a dozen FBs were present at Tapps. Initially, they stuck to the table tops by themselves, but as the night went on you could see them loosening up, mingling, and eventually making their way to the pong table.
So there you have it. The polls are open on Facebook so VOTE OR DIE!
Come out to support our sponsor, Tapps every Wednesday. CLUBWAKA members enjoy $2.50 Rolling Rocks, 50% off Bold Rock Cider, 50% off Alewerks Weekend Lager, and 50% off appetizers. Food, Friends, Beer.
