Updated VA Peninsula Kickball All-Time Records

It's been a few weeks since the finale of the Fall 2017 season, but with Thanksgiving and (really awesome) Black Friday sales, I've been pretty tied up. One of the things I love to do after each season of #WAKAWednesday kickball is to update the all-time stats and I finally got a chance to do it this morning!



Here are some of the more interesting milestones and nuggets that jumped out at me.

• The Foul Balls may have only notched two wins in this campaign, but that's all they needed to hit 75 overall. Only three other franchises have more than 75 wins all-time (Rumspringa, JFK, 5OC). 
• Foul Balls also scored their 666th run in franchise history. That's... something, I guess. 
• The Foulies also became the first team to allow over 1,000 runs all-time (when you play 19 seasons, it's bound to happen)
• Cardiac Arrest put together one of the most prolific offenses in league history. Their 8.7 runs per game is the 3rd highest performance in league history. 5YP was right behind them with the 6th best offensive season with 8.4 runs scored per game on average (no doubt it would have been higher were it not for a late-season forfeit. Impressive). PBJT's 7.8 rpg is good for 14th all-time.
• As you can see from the previous bullet point there was a lot of offense this season. The leagues top two defenses as measured by RAPG were PBJT and Cardiac Arrest, both with 2.3. This mark is only tied for the 73rd best RAPG in league history. Just about every team found ways to get around the bases this Fall on even the top teams. 

UPCOMING MILESTONES

There are some teams knocking on some pretty impressive milestones in 2018. 

• The Foul Balls franchise dates back to the Fall of 2008. They will be entering into their 20th season in the Spring! They're also 5 games away from hitting 200 overall regular season games! 
• Cardiac Arrest and PBJT are six games away from 100. Only four franchises in league history have achieved this milestone of longevity (Foul Balls, Rumspringa, 5 O'Clockers, Chubby Gangsters). Sounds like we may have to do some celebrating mid-way through the spring for these squads! 
• Rumspringa is knocking on the door for the all-time runs scored record. JFK currently holds the title with 776 runs for. Rumspringa has 758. If they maintain their historical average of 4.71 runs scored per game, we may see this record fall by the 3rd or 4th game of the season. 

This league has a ton of history. 22 seasons. 75 'franchises'. Over 1.400 games played. Thousands of players and countless memories. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the best kickball league ever.
