Coach Wentworth On The Hot Seat

And, no, it wasn't for brandishing a firearm during league play.

HAMPTON, VA - After failing to make the Domestic Beer Trophy Playoffs for the second consecutive season, many Obviously Not Golfers fans are questioning whether Head Coach Brent Wentworth is the right man to lead the club in the future.

After winning the summer 2017 DBT, Obviously Not Golfers have been relegated to the Cup Trophy division in the fall and winter. Most recently, the Non-Golfers blew a 64 pin lead in the regular season finale costing them the final qualifying position and putting Wentworth on the hot seat.

It's not just the legions of passionate fans who are disappointed with Wentworth's leadership. Sources within the team itself have expressed dissatisfaction. In the pre-game huddle on Sunday, Coach Wentworth screamed at his teammates, "Don't f*ck this up! Don't f*ck this up! Don't f*ck this up!"  Instead of motivating the team, it appeared to backfire, putting too much pressure on their backs.

"The intensity definitely hurt us on Sunday." an ONG player told the GMOT on a condition that they remain anonymous, "Brent was over the top. Sometimes I wonder why I ever married him."

"I don't know what everyone is talking about. I have amazing leadership." Wentworth stated on Tuesday, "I can't help it if the rest of my team is a bunch of chokers."

As with anything, winning cures a lot. A win in the consolation division could be enough to give Non-Golfers ownership enough confidence to retain the beleaguered head coach an extension. Time will tell.
