WEEK 3
I, like robot Jay Coble above, fell down on the job again this week. I blame working late, kickball and birthdays. Either way, this should provide you some pre-soccer Sunday reading while you're doing Jungle Cross, playing Spider-fella on your e-reader or playing Words with Friends against your cat. (I don't know what kids do these days).
As always, we'll start with some housekeeping things.
1) One thing we clarified in the rules is sliding as there were a couple of contradictory lines in there around sliding. What we're trying to avoid is slide tackling in order to prevent injuries. So if there's no one around and the ball is about to go about of bounds and you slide to save it, no problem. If there's someone in the vicinity and you go to slide to save it, the refs going to call you for a tackle. See the updated rules, if necessary.
2) I provided an update on the Hampton Cup Regatta on the Facebook page. Of note, this should not be confused with The Police's Regatta de Blanc or Zenyatta Mondatta, both of which were excellent albums. I'm speaking of the regatta at Fort Monroe where boats go zoom. The road that we normally come in on (the first left after getting on to Fort Monroe) will be closed. My recommendation would be to continue going straight and taking a left on Patch Road. This will take you to the far side of Field 1 and you can park in the Field 1 parking lot or across Patch Road from Oozlefinch. A slightly longer walk for Field 2 folks, but shouldn't be too bad. In short, Fort Monroe is going to be busy, so I suggest everyone get to the fields early just in case parking becomes an issue. Otherwise, you may miss Sting looking at you like this.

Wait. I think I may have confused myself with that Police bit.

WEEK 2 RESULTS AND STANDINGS
TEAM OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3
Che Henderson - Che was a one man wrecking crew, providing a ton of offense for Hot and Messi in their loss to Ronaldo McDonaldo. One of his goals, he took a touch of the kickoff, dribbled all the way down to the 18 and fired a shot far post. (sorry Che, no photos in the archives)
Kayson Bell - Speed + dribbling = a great winger. And that's what Kayson does each week. Put in two in the huge upset over Look Ma No Hands.
Taven McDonald - Biercelona played a tight one against Hangover and if it wasn't for a foul in the box where Taven got up quickly and the ref played up advantage, we may have seen a 6-6 tie. Guy is a monster in the box and is tough for any defense to stop even throwing the whole back line at him.
Selena Beaver - When you're the captain and people don't show, but you still manage to convince the 5 that do show to play the first half. And you score a goal. That's an A++ in my book.
Josh Evans - Josh kept Foot Works organized on the field and off in what was a very tight game vs. Oozlekicks. His effort earned him the nickname The Bearded Beast from his captain, which is definitely better than The Organizer.
Delaney Leathers - Two different players from Misfits nominated Delaney for her defense and tireless work ethic. Usually offense is what stands out, but in this case Delaney's game got her a lot of respect.
Chris Garcia - Chris was looking like Buffon out there on Sunday as Hangover pulled out the victory. Without Chris making saves left and right, Biercelona would have certainly put in a few more.
THE RACE FOR THE GOLDEN BOOT
Mike Machie and Anderzon Rojas still sit at the top of the leaderboard this week. They flip flopped due to Machie's 4 goal game against Hot and Messi. Tom Weniger and Blake Thompson are right on their heads with 7 and 6 goals, respectively. Taven McDonald, Mike Dorsey, and Brad Kirby all have 5 oooon it.
PHOTOS OF THE WEEK
Jason Campbell of Moat Monsters slides out to save the ball off the foot of Netkicks and Chill's Azeez Ojelade while Matthew Burleson looks on.
WEEK 4 @ Oozlefinch
