CLUBWAKA Kicks Cancer -Thank yous!

Thank you all for joining us for the 2019 CLUBWAKA Kicks Cancer Charity Kickball Tournament. It was truly a great day of kickball and I appreciate you all coming together as a community. We raised just over $4,500 for the Sentara Cancer Network Mission Funds. This money will make a big impact in the lives of those local cancer patients who are most in need. Know that you have legitimately made a difference while playing this goofy game. I want to take a few moments to specifically thank some individuals for helping to make this event a success.
  • To my team: Anna Rigg, Ryan Kiel, Amy Hoffman, Troy Carter, and Jen Neal. You all were critical to making this event work. If any one of you had dropped the ball we'd have been in trouble! Thank you for your hard work and support!
  • Thank you to all of our refs and field setup crew: Bryan Freed, Rey Cruz, David Culver, Daniel Lee, James Maurmeier, Gene Maurmeier, Scott Tinsley, Chris Granados, and Amber Adams.
  • Shout out to all the teams that participated in the F-Cancer challenge. Congratulations to #EffCancer for being the top fund raisers and to Dyn-O-Mite for winning the Fun category.
  • Thank you to Stuft for providing us with the on site food truck. The tacos were on point as always! Please give them a like and a review on Facebook
  • PBR Hampton came through with a great after-party. The buffet was banging and it was a lot of fun. Thank you to Phil and the team there for a great cap to the day.
  • We had two amazing photographers at the field on Saturday and their photos are now online on our Facebook page. Please take a moment to check them out, like them, comment on them, tag them, share them, etc. Direct Links to albums:
  • Thank you to our athletic trainer, Michelle. Unfortunately, she was a little busy yesterday helping with three separate injuries. I'm glad she was on site and able to help. Thank you to Tidewater Orthopedics for providing the AT.
  • Thank you to Sentara for providing the HQ tents, snacks, gatorades, and water.
  • Shout out to KBS Apparel for generously donating 10% of their custom jersey sales. Also they did a great job with the hoodies! We ended up selling 55, which netted over $400 for the charity.
  • Thank you City of Hampton for allowing us the opportunity to play at Briarfield Park.
  • A HUGE thank you to all of our captains for their leadership. Sometimes captaining a coed adult kickball team can be a thankless job. Not on my watch though. I appreciate you all.

Finally, I'd like to thank our tremendous sponsors for all of their support. These are all great local businesses and you should show them some love!

Now that we've got the thanks out of the way, it's time for some shameless plugs. If you enjoyed your weekend with us, we hope you join us for a league soon! Registration is now open for our winter leagues. Check out all the activities available including kickball, volleyball, bowling, and dodgeball at clubwaka.com/hampton-roads. (Richmond, we're working on winter bowling for you all - look for those details coming soon).

Some of you will be randomly selected to take a survey. If you receive an email from James Walicek, please take a few moments to share your feedback. Tell us what you loved and what you'd like to see improved. If you feel we earned it, please smash that 10. This will help tell my bosses that we should continue doing more charity events like the CLUBWAKA Kicks Cancer.

Thank you all again for kicking cancer's ass this weekend.

Brent
