Peninsula Kickballers Represent in Florida

The Pirate was determined to get to Florida, no matter
what he had to do to make the trip.
FT. LAUDERDALE - On Saturday, 27 teams from all over the country traveled to Ft. Lauderdale to compete in the South Florida Kickball Open. Several Peninsula kickballers made the trip, and played against some of the best competition in the world.

Former VS players Jon Reyes, James Salgado, Wes McClain, and Nikki Leblanc played for the Sloppy Titans, who went 1-3 and unfortunately failed to make it out of their very tough pool... Last seasons' VS team was also represented by Kate Barcus and Matt "The Experience" Barcus. They played with New York City's Lock It Up. LIU made a very deep run in the tourney, before falling in the semi-finals... JFK captain Bryan Freed also played with a NYC team, joining the Jellystone Rangers for a fun morning of kickball... JFK's Bryan "NoShoes" Moore and Eric "The Pirate" Stevens joined a team from DC called Chicken it for Ghana and had an outstanding tournament run, winning what many experts called the toughest pool. Ghana's run ended in the first round of the elimination bracket... The Emperors Club's Patrick Jones played first base for The Situation, along with Vicious and Delicious' Chris "Bundy" Leblanc and Dave "Bubby" Dixon. The Sitch is one of the top ranked teams in the nation, but they had a rough morning on Saturday, failing to get out of their very tough pool... Finally, JC Cashwell pitched for the reigning world champions, Panik Attack. PA reached the finals of the tourney, with JC throwing his trademark nasty pitches. However, Panik fell just short of the title. The Meatballs from Ft. Lauderdale took the trophy and the prize money.

All in all, it appeared to be an awesome tourney and a weekend to remember. Congrats to everyone who represented our league against the best! Hope you all had a great time and a safe trip home!
