The Jagernaut Wild Week 3 Weekly Recap (Easter Edition)
The Jagernauts took care of their business in Week 3 by first beating Off in the Corner, and then second, exploding all over the dance floor a Luckies afterwards. It was a wild night to say the least, so without anymore further ado, get’s get to the action. (Justin’s Note: Oh and I’m probably not going to mention any Easter References in this write-up because it’s too easy to make other references, but I will mention one… Happy Easter everybody!)
Dan Moore scores a run in the first.
The Jagernauts got hot quickly and promptly started beating Off in the Corner (Justin’s note: C’mon folks, you knew this reference was coming) during the top of the first with runs scored from Dan Moore and Joe Mazzitti off of RKIs from Liz Sims and Kevin Gitkos. The beating Off in the Corner continued during the second inning when Nicci Surething extended the lead to 3 by scoring off of a RKI by Kyle Wright.
Even from all of this action, the Jagernuats’ stamina didn’t diminish as Dan Moore and Joe Mazzitti both scored again in the fourth, extending the Jager lead to 5. The Jager defense also held tight as it turned down threats from Off in the Corner all night. The highlight play came in the fifth, when Right Center fielder Justin Arrington and first baseman Mike Ramey converted a 8-3 double play off of a pop fly ball. Justin Arrington noted after the game “I usually have my hands in my pocket, as that’s usually my approach to beating Off in the Corner, but when the action came to me, I had no choice but to make a play. I’m glad it worked.” Right fielder Kyle Wright added “I was also playing the field the whole game, and I saw that Justin and Mike made. To say the least, it was impressive. I’m just glad I do my part to beat Off in the Corner by scoring Dr. Surething in the second.” The defense held Off in the Corner to zero runs, leading to the first shutout of the season. The final: Jagernauts 5, Off in the Corner 0, in an offensive explosion that set the tone for the rest of the Jagernaut night.
Mazziti was on base all afternoon against OitC
Joe Mazzitti was named the MVP of the game, with a performance that would make even the most seasoned veterans that beat Off in the Corner jealous. My stats showed that he had two doubles, two runs and an RKI for the night. He also led the Jager flip cup team at Luckies afterward to scores of victories and was the anchor for a new cheer that could possibly catch on in the upcoming weeks. Said Joe of his MVP performance during games of flip cup afterward “Yeah I was pretty tired and sore from beating Off in the Corner all night, but my second wind came when we were dominating at flip cup.”
Kyle Wright drives in his first run of the season.
Jagernaut coach Katie Litle, absent from the game due to a meeting with the WAKA Founder Cup representatives in Las Vegas, said in a telephone interview from the sports book at the MGM Grand “I put a bunch of money down on the Jagers that night. I’m glad the Jagers won, although they didn’t cover the spread (Jager +6.5) so I just narrowly missed winning that bet. Overall , though, I came out ahead because I bet the over on how many masturbation jokes would include in his write-up (over-under 10.5) and the over on how many official ruling discussions the VIP vs VD game would have (over-under 5.5). So, all in all, I didn’t have a bad night.”
I’ll save the official “Bar Buzz” recap to Trici Fredrick, but to say that the Jagers had a good night beating Off in the Corner and then exploding all over the dance floor would be an understatement. Congrats Jagers on an awesome night and I feel the bar buzz belt could be ours in the upcoming weeks! Sadly though, I will be missing next’s weeks game so you all will have to wait two weeks for another recap. Until then…I’ll let Michael Jackson take it on home.
Correction: There was only one rules discussion in the VD vs. VIP game. It just took 5.5 minutes to clear up.
ReplyDeleteThis was the best use of my team name all season. And thanks for the M.J.
