WAKA VA Peninsula Mega Preseason Preview (Part 2)

This is part 2 of the 3 part WAKA VA Peninsula Mega Preseason Preview! If you missed it, please see Part 1 of the preview.

#10 Moose Knuckles
Captains: Nick Anderson and Justin Blair
Color: Maroon
Fall 2010 Record: N/A
All-Time Record: N/A
Wentworth Trophies: 0
Best Charlie Sheen Quote: "I'm on a quest to claim absolute victory on every front."

After struggling to win games with their Fall 2010 teams, former Chubby Gangster Justin Blair, and former TailGators Nick Anderson and Jiselle Decker set out to form a new squad, with the goal of competing with the best of the league. My vast network of kickball scouts (believe me, I have them) has told me that the Knucks are loaded with great athletes. They should be able to outrun and outkick many of the teams in the league. The key for success will be experience. Besides Anderson, Decker, and Blair, only former VIP Jesse Jones has any WAKA experience (as far as I know). If the athetic rookies on the team can pick up the nuances of the game throughout the season, than this is a team that could be quite dangerous come tournament time.

#9 Battlestar Ballsacktica
Captain: Andy Tapley
Color: Charcoal Gray
Fall 2010 Record: N/A
All-Time Record: N/A
Wentworth Trophies: 0
Best Charlie Sheen Quote: "I'm sorry, man, but I've got magic. I've got poetry in my fingertips."

It's rumored that last year's NKotB team split into 2 factions as the season went on. One faction was care free, happy go-lucky, and party orientated. The other faction had a desire to be a little more competitive. It was from the competitive side that the Battlestar Ballsacktica was launched. Lead by head coach Andy Tapley, the team features several NKotB alumni, including Phillip Turner (the genius who thought up the brilliant team name) and stand out charger, Michael Machie.  This past weekend, Battlestar Ballsacktica had an impromptu scrimmage with some of The Emperors Club, and I have to say, I was impressed. While not ranking very high on most of the preseason coaches polls, it won't be long before this squad is on every team's radar.

#8 Off in the Corner
Captain: Crystal Tanner
Color: Orange
Fall 2010 Record: 3-8-1 (11th place)
All-Time Record: 18-69-4 (.187)
Wentworth Trophies: 0
Best Charlie Sheen Quote: "That was an old brain. I have a new brain. I have a 10,000 year old brain and the boogers of a 7 year old."

Welcome back to WAKA, Angel!
The TailGators are the oldest continuously running franchise in WAKA VA Peninsula. While none of the current players on the team were around then, the roots of the team run all the way back to the first season in the Spring of 2007. In fact, later this season, Off in the Corner will play in the 100th game in team history, which is an amazing milestone... But on the flipside, up until now, the 'Gators haven't won too many of their 91 games played. But that was the old 'Gators. Now this is the newly branded Off in the Corner. Crystal Tanner spent the winter playing in the ultra competitive VA Recess league with one of the most talented and experienced teams in the country, the Tiki Titans. Now, she plans on bringing that knowledge back to Off in the Corner. With the return of several of it's key contributors including Spring 2010 All-Peninsula 1st Teamer, Kim Koricich, one thing is for sure; it's going to be tougher to beat Off in the Corner this season.

# 7 Chubby Gangsters
Captains: Buster Patterson and Melissa Rarick
Color: Carolina Blue
Fall 2010 Record: 5-5-2 (6th place)
All-Time Record: 10-23-2 (.314)
Wentworth Trophies: 0
Best Charlie Sheen Quote: "I don't live in the middle anymore. That's where you get slaughtered. That's where you get embarassed."

Gangbangers.
To the Chubby Gangsters, who are looking to earn their first winning record in franchise history. In addition to bringing back the majority of their top players such as Steve Midlik, Thane Osterdahl, and Tracy Colby, the Gangbangers have also added some new talent. Joining the team are former Foul Ball Greg Moore ("a 6'3'' MMA expert" according to a drunk Roger Jackson.) and our favorite beer guys from War Memorial, AJ Derr and Jeffrey Scott. Scott and Moore will more than likely share the pitching duties for the Gangsters, since Buster Patterson is on the DL to start the season after breaking his collarbone in an offseason training session. Despite the injury, the Chubby Gangsters has been in the league for solid amount of time (4 seasons) and they should finally be putting the pieces together and now work on refining their game versus learning their game. They finished .500 last season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them improve on that mark this spring.

#6 Jagernauts
Captain: Justin Littell
Color: Purple
Fall 2010 Record: 7-3-2 (4th place)
All-Time Record: 22-24-4 (.480)
Wentworth Trophies: 0
Best Charlie Sheen Quote: "I am battle-tested bayonets, bro."

After spending the winter playing against some of the best teams in the country, the Jagernauts truly are battle-tested. And although they lost most of those battles (NautSoJager went 2-9-1 during the season), the experience you get from seeing the best of the best each week is invaluable. The 'Nauts will need to rely on that experience if they want to continue their recent stretch of top 5 finishes in the league. This will be the first full season without mainstays "Lil" Jon Meier and Eddie Seavers. Replacing them will be Mike Seals and Kim "Gray Bush" Merritt. Will they be able to replace those two Jager legends production? We'll find out soon... If nothing else, the Jagernauts have already clinched the award for "Best Video" with Justin Littell's masterpiece

Tomorrow, we'll take a look at the big boys, as we continue the WAKA VA Peninsula Mega Preview with part 3!
