WAKA Kicks Cancer Raises Over $3K for Relay For Life!

Our fundraising campaign for the American Cancer Society is in the books, and we celebrated last night at Darling Stadium at the Relay for Life Event.

At the event, our team camped out overnight and took turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Together, WAKA Kicks Cancer raised over $3,000 to help in the fight against Cancer!

The event itself was a blast. In addition to camping out and walking the track, participants enjoyed live music, entertainment, and very touching tributes to survivors and caregivers. The highlight of the night though was shortly after midnight, when an impromptu game of adult kickball broke out at the field. (I know. Shocking.)

I want to recognize Andrea Hoffman and Melissa Rarick for their outstanding leadership in captaining the Relay team. You guys really did a lot of hard work to make this happen... I also want to thank each person who joined our relay team, Emily Cook, Dottie Wood, Trici Fredrick, Adam Henry, Carla Lessig, Jessica Martin, Lori Medford, and Crystal Midlik... And of course, I want to thank each and every kickballer who supported the cause by donating, buying a koozie or raffle ticket, or participating in the Egg Dash. Together, we made a difference! Can't wait to see how we can top it in 2012!
