It's time to get to know the women of this league a little better! Every week I am going to put one of our amazing women in the spotlight. This week's WOMAN OF THE WEEK is:
MARY KATHERINE EVANS HOGGaka MKEH or MK

Veterans of this league know MKEH for her spectacular photography skills. Her photos (A Beach Girl Photography by Mary Katherine) have graced blogs, GMOTs, and facebook profile pictures across Hampton Roads. She isn't just a great photographer, this woman's got mad kickball skills! She knows how this game is played!
TEAM: Free Ballin' Co-Captain with Jon Pilz in their first season (this is MK's 3rd seson)
POSITION: If she's not behind the catcher with her camera, she plays SHORT
Noelle: Is there a specific game that you're looking forward to the most this season?
MKEH: "The obvious game I am most excited to play is against Battlestar~ "Friendly" competition is my favorite! I have some great friends on my former team and think we will have a good time on and off the field. I am also looking forward to playing the top ranked teams in the league. My teammates are all eager to learn and gel as a team and aren't afraid of some good ol' fashion competition."
Noelle: What's your favorite kickball moment?
MKEH: "Getting the game winning RBI in the semi-finals of the American Red Cross Charity Tournament. I played with a great group of kickballers from the Penninsula and Southside, from many different teams. We were still tied in the bottom of the 12th inning, or something ridiculous like that, and nobody could score. It was a NO (John P. Wilkinson reference here) bunting allowed game. I came up to 'kick' and you feel the tension.. oh no it's MK (I was the worst player on the team). There was another WOMAN on 3rd base. I kick, the head ref calls it a bunt and I have to come back. My next kick goes to the right of the pitcher and he misses it, I'm not looking, just running as fast as I can and I hear the cheers from the sidelines as my female teammate scores! This is why women are so very important in the game of kickball. Bundy always says 'Your team is only as good as your girls.' Never underestimate the power of a woman.
Noelle: I think this is my new favorite kickball story! Way to go MK!!

This year winning the game is what I want the most. Jon and I have had a lot of fun putting together our team and I know they want the win on the field and fun at the bar! For me, I'm looking forward to having some wins as an awesome female Captain and Coach!
