Bar Buzz Week 2

"It's amazing what people will do to win a plastic belt." -- Chris "Bundy" LeBlanc

And in this week, truer words were never spoken. Although in fairness... it's not JUST the belt people are clamoring for. It's notoriety; infamy; pride; and well.... attention. To be a part of a Bar Buzz Champion team is one of the highest honors a true kickballer can hope for. And nothing was more apparent in this, our second week of bar buzzing. There were so many teams living it up, holding down the bar scene and frankly - just having a damn good time with their weekend drinking on a weekday. I can't thank you all enough for making our job here at the Bar Buzz Column even more difficult than it needs to be. (Really... thanks.) It's a good thing we only have to rank 8 of you because otherwise there's no way we'd make the 9pm Monday deadline.

Alright. Without further ado... let's rip this Band-aid off:

Supper Club...
#8 Battlestar Ballsacktica: BB made it clear to our panel that they were present and accounted for Wednesday night. However, what they may not have realized is that in doing so they were also highlighting their "super club" ways. They get credit for high participation and longevity. However, they'll need to step away from the grouped table if they want to go far in this component of our league.
Back Patio Sittin'

#7 Chicken Tetrazzini: Once again CT gave the performance they are notorious for... a little mixing and mingling and a lot of standing on the patio catching up with the team.  We certainly understand there is comfort in familiarity but if the Birds are hoping to grab that Golden Belt as they have done before, they'll need to find a way to get a fresh spin on their old recipe.

Drive this short bus to that belt!
#6 Foul Balls: Last week the Foulies probably didn't get the recognition they deserved for their participation in the Bar Buzz. However, I think it was this exact editorial mistake that helped them get ahead in the rankings. The GangGreen doesn't like to be left off any radar. I mean, they even take over foul territory! So it's likely we'll see a continual rise to the top from these veteran partiers.

#5 5 O'Clockers: The Clockers continue to be consistent. But much like the other veterans in our Bar Buzz, they'll need to show us they can do more than what we've seen before (note: this means APPROPRIATELY show us what they can do). It's only a matter of time though... and it could very well be that once they get going there will be no stopping them.

#4 Jagernauts: Such a stand out team (literally, have your retinas stopped burning from all that yellow yet??) they also stand on the edge of the top tiered teams. They consistently perform with high marks but they too will need to find what they can do to win the Belt for a 4th time (besides changing their jersey colors to gain more attention of course).

Orange, Orange everywhere!
#3 Vicious and Delicious: I'm not sure VD has ever made it this high in our weekly rankings (I would do the research myself but I'm being lazy (you should see what the dashboard for this blog looks like!) so you'll just have to take my word for it.) And this week was likely there very best performance to date. Their TN Orange jerseys they were everywhere - and in high numbers. Does this mean we might finally see a team that was previous categorized solely as a "competitive" team might finally make it to the top?

#2 Rumspringa: It's not unusual for the reigning champs to bring it the next week. And it's not unusual for Rumpsringa to simply "bring it." However, this week they came on strong and faded quickly. Don't get me wrong... it was still an impressive performance...but not entirely what we know the Springas are capable of.

#1 Free Ballin: Ballin' was definitely letting it all hang out this week - and they were hanging EVERYWHERE. The dance floor. The patio. The bar. They had all the areas covered. Their enthusiasm was overwhelming. Literally, it was a little too much to take at times. BUT you can't fault them for their passion. It's not often that you see a newly franchised team take over such an established social scene like FB did in Week 2 and for that they are this week's Bar Buzz Champs!

Free Ballin': Week 2 Bar Buzz (and dance floor) Champs!

Worth Mentioning:
Burning Bridges - Although new to the league, these folks are not in any way new to our WAKA Peninsula social scene. This week they showed they were here to be contenders. Will next week's performance get them into the actual rankings?

Chubby Gangsters - Slow and steady wins the race. Although they are rarely found in great numbers after 11pm. The Gangsters were partying hard to open the bar in Week 2.

Just for Kicks - The much anticipated return of Matt Barcus has brought JFK into the social spotlight. However, one man can't win it all. Will his team rally to give the support JFK needs to win it all?

Until next time -- Bottom's Up!
