Game 1 vs. New Kickheads
The New Kickheads started off strong in the first, putting 1 run on the board off of starting pitcher Mike Seals. However, the Jagernauts roared back in the bottom of the first as speedster Dan Moore, Joe Mazzitti, Julie Kittelson and Mike Seals broke the game open scoring four runs.
They rounded the bases off of a 2 RKI single by Mike Seals (running total RKI = 2), and a deep sacrifice 2RKI fly by Kyle Wright. There was a bit of déjà-vu in the third inning as the top of the lineup rounded the bases again as Dan and Joe scored again off of a deep 2 RKI single by Mike Seals (running total RKI = 4). It was the middle of the ordered that inflicted the damage in the fourth inning as Kyle Wright, Kevin Gitkos, Mike Ramey scored off of a 2RKI double by (3rd person alert) Justin Littell and Liz Arrington. With the game in hand, the Jagernauts took the well deserved win in into the second game of the doubleheader.
Game 2 vs. Chicken Tetrazzini
The second game started much like the first game in the evening, when Dan Moore, Joe Mazzitti, Julie Kittelson, and Kim Merritt put up 4 runs in the first off of a 2 RKI sac fly by Mike Seals (running total RKI = 6) and a deep double by Kyle Wright.
The second inning created more opportunities from the Jagernaut offense as runs from Mike Ramey, Justin Littell, Liz Arrington, and Justin Sims who saw his first action #OccupyingTheBottomOfTheLineup, helped the Jagernauts take a commanding lead of the Angry Birds. Mike Seals was credited with 2 more RKI’s (running total RKI = 8) kicking a long single into left. In the fifth inning, Seals gathered his 9th RKI of the night, when he kicked a deep ball to right center, sending Joe Mazzitti to #OccupyHomePlate.
MVP of the week was Mike Seals, who shattered previous peninsula RKI records, kicking in 9 (yes, count them 9) RKIs on the night. It was all part of Seals’ 9-9-9 plan in which he kicked 9 RKIs, pitched 9 innings and had 9 beers afterward at Luckies. Said Seals afterward of his momentous feat “If Joe wasn’t so speedy It would have been 10, or if Julie [who kicked infront of him in the lineup and was credited with an RKI for scoring Dan Moore] wasn’t so selfish, I’d be in double digits. I’d really like her to #OccupyTheBench next game, but I don’t think coach would allow it” Julie Kittelson, after hearing of Seals plan for her commented “My foot’s gonna #OccupySealsAss. Then we’ll see what he has to say!” Kyle Wright won co-MVP of the week as his solid performance netted 3 for 4 in kicking, 6 RKI’s, and a run scored. Said Kyle afterward of his 3-4-6-1 plan, “I just stepped it up this week. It could have been the tuna sandwich I had for lunch, or the rainout weeks I spent #OccupyingTabb5thGradeGymClassKickballGames, or the fact that [team captain] Justin Littell found a good spot for me in the lineup. I’m definitely ready for next week.”
With all the action that happened during the Jagernaut week 8, the Jagernauts climbed back above .500 for the year and really helped their runs scored differential. Next week features The Jagernauts vs. the-always-fun-to-play Jen Nardi and her Foul Balls. I know I’m going be preparing my A-game on the field as well as off the field as the undercard to this match is the clash of the peninsula bloggers as Justin Littell goes against Nathaniel “Jorts” Johnson in GMOT blog supremacy (oh who are we kidding…Jorts is gonna kill me, that guy’s f’ing hilarious!)
Till next week!
