MVPeter and Nicole Plesha celebrated
the tie after the game at Luckie's.
Blame it on the full moon, or the alignment of the planets and stars last night, but there were several unexpected upsets as underdogs took over the action of the evening! I say, it's always easier to just blame it on the refs...

In the BB vs. VD game, Battlestar came out swinging... I mean, kicking! Michael Machie and Philip Tanner both ran over the plate for 2 runs in the first inning bringing the score to 2-0. On defense MVPeter made an outstanding catch in right center, and Brandon Silver made a spectacular diving catch in right to keep them scoreless in the second inning. The Battlestar defense was holding tight only allowing 1 run in the 1st and 3rd innings. With the score at 2-2 at the top of the 4th inning, Silver was kicked in to home by Jason Weiszek to make it 3-2.

Then the stars went out of alignment for a little while or a black cloud covered the full moon or SOMETHING because strange and unusual things happened after that.  With 2 outs at the bottom of the 4th, an infield kick was made and the ball was overthrown to 1st base. Joe Stumpo scooped it up as the runner rounded second on his way to 3rd. Joe threw the ball and it hit the runner in the back close to his neck.  The 3rd base ref motioned that it hit the runner and we all started walking off the field as the runner continued to run all the way to home plate.  3 outs, right?! Well, after a ref powwow, the call was overturned as a hit to the head and the run counted. (Stupid stars!!). So, disgruntled, we all went back out to get that third out... again. Tied at 3-3, we were a bit irate at the crazy call and ready to get the inning over with. On the very next play, an infield kick was made and the runner rounded 1st on his way to second.  He ran back to first but was tagged in the back before touching 1st again. 3 outs, right?! Well, um....no. The head ref didn't have a good angle and the 1st base ref was in front of the runner as he was running back and didn't see the tag. Soooooo, out number 4 was a bust, too. (I'm beginning to hate those dang stars!) FINALLY, the 5th out was made and....wait the 3rd of... it was... ok, the inning finally ended with the score tied 3-3 and that's where it stayed. WHEW!

NoShoes sang a somber song.
Battle star held it together (with no help from those freakin' stars...) and made some great plays on offense and defense. Brandon Silver, Kyle Rowley, and MVPeter Kuhr were all 2 for 2 in kicking.  Since MVPeter's pride was deeply injured in that game last week, he has promised to leave his invisible cape home for the rest of the season. Yay! Overall, Battlestar did very well and played together with efficiency as a team. Perhaps they will be able to kick some serious WAKA butt in time for the tournament!

Thanks for a great game, Vicious and Delicious!

P.S.- I think that I should not be fined $5000 again for openly complaining about the refs as I blame the stars this time...
