Well kickballers. I gotta say... I'm disappointed. Maybe it's the colder weather. Maybe it was the delayed Halloween Hangovers. Or maybe it's because there was no promise of free beer. Whatever it was... where were you?!? Do you mean to tell me that you only play kickball for the competition on the field? Are you not inspired and amped by the competition and social camaraderie at the bar? I mean we even brought back the cupid shuffle...for YOU. You only have 2 weeks left of regular games. And trust me when I say, You will miss this. So what are you waiting for??

But enough with the sentiment. Even though there were some solid performances this week particularly by Jimminy Kick It, Rumpsringa, Chicken Tetrazzini, Jagernauts, 5 O'Clockers, Just for Kicks, and  NKOTB, as our panel scanned the bar scene, there was really only one "team" that emerged as a true standout.

"Officially" established  on May 17, 2011, the BDB's (that's Baseball Diamond Boys) have become a household name in our WAKA Wednesday community. Not only do they manage to keep the fields fresh, they also practically kept the Pilots in business which does help us to keep our field in the long term AND they've also managed to almost always hold it down with us in Luckie's afterwards. They've actually spent 2.5 seasons with our division without ever obtaining the coveted golden belt with a team of their own (although both teams, Chubby Gangsters and now Shake N Bake, have tried their "hardest" -- ?????)  So really, it's about time we recognize them. Not only do they keep the party going with their late night antics but they mingle and mix with all of the teams. They've personally helped to make ours a social and uber-friendly community and let's be honest, it certainly would not be the same without them.

The Bar Buzz Belt has never been given to an individual, pair or really anything other than an actual team (and honestly, I'm not sure it ever will be again) but if there was ever a Dynamic Duo who should receive such a prestigious honor it is most certainly our beloved BDB's.

In other news... you certainly won't want to miss out on this week's Kickball Karaoke where we take it back to the "old school" and learn even more than we've ever wanted to know about our fellow league members. Maybe this is what your team needs to finally obtain the belt....Or maybe we'll finally have some repeat champions?  Stay tuned!
