Coming into the back end of the season, the Jagernauts were ready to look past the loss in week 10 and were focused on the Week 11 opponent: Kick Ass. The game was more interesting than a Justin Bieber paternity suit, and with the outcome decided on second to last play, there was more action than Greek debt crisis (okay so that was a bit of a stretch). And so with the Jagernauts back (along with my mostly-terrible WAKA blog recaps) in action, let’s get right into the action.
The game got off to a late start as Kick Ass was waiting for some Kick-Ass-girls (get it?) to show up. However, when the game started, the Jagernaut top of the lineup got it done with back-to-back-to-back-to-back-bunt singles by Dan Moore, Joe Mazzitti, Julie Kittelson and Kevin Gitkos taking Kick Ass by a bit of a surprise. Mike Seals bunted a deep sac fly to score Mazzitti, however the Kick Ass defense finally turned up and kept the Jagernauts to only 1 run.
Kick Ass came right back in the bottom of the first to take the 2-1 lead. Things stayed that way until the bottom of the lineup got it done this time as Team Arrington lead off with bunt singles. Then (3rd person alert) Justin Littell booted a deep triple to the left field corner, scoring Liz to tie the game up.
The fourth inning was definitely the highlight of the evening for both teams. The Jager fourth inning highlighted with a bunt single by Dan Moore, an unintentional walk by Kevin Gitkos an RKI double from Mike Seals, and an intentional walk to Kyle Wright. Then came the highlight of the night:
Katie Litle kicked a deep fly into right center field, scoring both Kevin and Mike Seals to push the Jager lead to 5-3. She immediately “Tebowed” afterward, thus showing solidarity to the Jagernaut team. However, Kick Ass battled back in the bottom of the fourth to create a 5-5 tie. Unfortunately the game went longer than Kim Kardashian's wedding and was called after 4.
Katie Litle gets the MVP for the week after her very well timed double in the top of the fourth inning, extending the Jagers lead to 5-3. Said Litle afterward, "That'll teach them to intentionally put a female up to the plate! I'm just glad we were able to be a part of this game. It was fun!" Team photographer Ashlee Gitkos also noted after the game "That was fun! They're a good team, one not to be taken lightly!" Mike Ramey though had the quote of the night to put it all in perspective. "What a way to end it with a 5.0-5.0 split, which can be said for more than what some inferior leagues are doing with players association and owners right now." (Justin's Note: Good thing we don't have a salary cap!)
Next week, the Jagernauts hope to keep their non-losing steak alive when facing the sophomore team, Jiminy Kick It. Or will the Jagernauts fold under the pressure? Will my epic blogging, now with video highlights, live up to the glory of this post (probably not)? Tune in next week!
Haha. Great recap, Justin! Some great pop culture references... And btw, the camera work on those videos is amazing! Professional quality!
ReplyDeletehaha thanks...I posted the writeup and then immediately thought that I should have given you a shout out. Maybe I can still edit it.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my reaction after realizing that my teammate dropped the ball in when Katie kicked the ball deep... smh lol I don't know what to say about myself.

ReplyDeleteHaha. It was a tough break. For the record, walking him was probably the right strategic decision. Katie made a good kick and your teammate unfortunately, couldn't make the play.
